Knowledge of enteral nutrition of the premature newborn in the practice of nurses in the neonatal intensive care unit service of a Hospital in Lima, 2024

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to determine how the level of knowledge about enteral nutrition impacts the practice of nursing professionals in hospitalized neonates in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of a hospital in Lima. It is a study with a quantitative approach, using a hypothetical-deductive method, basic type, with a non-experimental, descriptive, and cross-sectional design. The sampling method to be used will be census-based due to the small population size. To measure knowledge, the questionnaire titled "Knowledge about premature enteral nutrition," created by Sea Elizabeth in La Paz, Bolivia, will be used. This questionnaire consists of 20 questions structured into two dimensions. To evaluate nursing practices in enteral nutrition, an observation guide created by the same author, Sea Elizabeth, will be applied. It consists of 27 items structured into three phases: before, during, and after enteral nutrition, developed on a dichotomous scale. The results will be collected using previously validated instruments, processed, coded, and subsequently entered into a database designed using Excel.

La presente investigación tiene como objetivo principal determinar como el nivel de conocimiento sobre nutrición enteral incide en la práctica del profesional de enfermería en neonatos hospitalizados en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales de un hospital en Lima, es un estudio con enfoque cuantitativo, de método hipotético-deductivo de tipo básica, con diseño no experimental, descriptiva, y de corte transversal, el tipo de muestreo a utilizar será de tipo censal, por ser una población pequeña. Para la medición de los conocimientos se utilizará el cuestionario denominado “Conocimiento sobre la nutrición enteral del prematuro” creado por Sea Elizabeth en la Paz – Bolivia; el cual está compuesto por 20 preguntas, estructuradas en dos dimensiones. Para la evaluación de las prácticas de la enfermera en nutrición enteral, se aplicará una guía de observación creado por la misma autora Sea Elizabeth está conformada por 27 ítems los cuales se encuentran estructurados por tres fases, antes, durante y después de la nutrición enteral, elaborado en una escala dicotómica, Los resultados obtenidos serán recolectados usando instrumentos validados previamente, luego serán procesados, codificados y posteriormente serán ingresados en una base de datos que van a ser diseñados en el programa Excel.
