Validation of an instrument to measure the perception of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic in pediatric dentistry students, Lima 2021

Abstract

The aim of this study was to validate an instrument to measure the perception of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic in Pediatric Dentistry students at the Norbert Wiener University, Lima 2021. A prospective, cross-sectional, and descriptive study was conducted. As a data collection technique, an instrument was applied virtually via a Google Forms questionnaire. Additionally, the instrument was translated from its original version in English, following the translation steps, back translation, pilot test, review, and final report by a committee of specialists. The instrument underwent a reliability test with 20 students using Cronbach's alpha, resulting in a value of 0.984, demonstrating the instrument's reliability. Finally, the validated instrument was applied to a sample of 567 students from Pediatric Dentistry I and II and Pediatric Dentistry Clinic I and II, resulting in a positive perception of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study concluded that the instrument to measure the perception of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic in Pediatric Dentistry students at Norbert Wiener University, Lima 2021, is valid and reliable.

El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar validar un instrumento para medir la percepción sobre el aprendizaje en línea durante la pandemia del COVID – 19 en estudiantes de Odontopediatría de la Universidad Norbert Wiener, Lima 2021. Se realizó un estudio prospectivo, transversal y descriptivo, como técnica de recolección de datos se aplicó un instrumento que se efectuó virtualmente mediante formulario creado en Google forms. Además se realizó la traducción del instrumento con versión original en inglés, siguiendo las etapas de traducción del instrumento al español, la retraducción, prueba piloto, revisión e informe final por comité de especialistas. El instrumento pasó una prueba de confiabilidad con 20 estudiantes mediante la prueba de alfa de Cronbach dando un resultado 0.984 apreciando la fiabilidad del instrumento. Finalmente se aplicó el instrumento validado en una muestra de 567 estudiantes de Odontopediatría I y II y Clínica del niño I y II, obteniendo como resultado una buena percepción sobre el aprendizaje en línea durante la pandemia del COVID – 19. Concluyendo que el instrumento para medir la percepción sobre el aprendizaje en línea durante la pandemia del COVID – 19 en estudiantes de Odontopediatría de la Universidad Norbert Wiener, Lima 2021, es válido y confiable.
