Risk of falls and physical condition in older adults in the urbanization of pariachi in the district of Ate, 2023

Abstract

The elderly population was the most affected after the pandemic and confinement, resulting in a decrease in their physical condition and generating balance problems. Therefore, the research will provide important data that will help future health professionals develop a treatment plan, and the importance of the study in this age group of older adults is to provide data on the risk of falls and examine the association with physical condition in the Pariachi urbanization of the Ate district. The research was of a descriptive correlational type. The sample consists of 120 older adults from the Pariachi urbanization in the Ate district, with an average age of 70.19 years, representing 14.2% of older adults, and 56.7% are female. They were surveyed using the Senior Fitness Test battery and the Timed Up and Go test. A relationship was found between physical condition and fall risk, with a p-value < 0.05. It was found that 56.3% of older adults had a low fall risk, while 43.3% did not present any risk. Regarding the physical condition of the elderly, 50% had a normal physical condition or were within the values of the Senior Fitness Test, 39.2% had poor physical condition, and the remaining 10.8% had good physical condition. It is concluded that there is an association between fall risk and physical condition in older adults in the Pariachi urbanization of the Ate district

La población adulto mayor fue la más afectada tras la pandemia y el confinamiento disminuyendo su estado físico y generando problemas de equilibrio por tal motivo la investigación brindara importantes datos que ayudaran a futuros profesionales de la salud y generar un plan de tratamiento y su importancia del estudio en este grupo etario de adulto mayores fue para brindar datos del riesgo de caída y examinar la asociación con condición física en la urbanización de Pariachi del distrito de Ate. La investigación fue de tipo descriptiva correlacional. La muestra está compuesta por 120 adultos mayores de la urbanización de Pariachi de distrito de Ate con la edad promedio de 70,19 años que representa el 14,2 % de los adultos mayores y 56,7 % son del sexo femenino. A los que se les encuesto la batería de Senior fitness Test y Timed up and go test. Se encontró una relación entre condición física y riesgo de caída, se halló valor de p < 0,05. Se encontró un riesgo de caída del 56.3 % de los adultos mayores de bajo riesgo y el 43,3 % de los adultos mayores no presentaron riesgo. La condición física de los adultos mayores el 50 % con condición física normal o dentro de los valores del test Senior Fitness Test, el 39,2 % con mala condición física y el 10,8 % restante buena condición física. Se concluye que existe una asociación entre riesgo de caída y condición física en adulto mayor en la urbanización de Pariachi del distrito de Ate.
