Risk of intestinal invagination following the administration of the rotavirus vaccine in children under 2 years of age

Abstract

Objective: To systematize the evidence on the risk of suffering from intestinal intussusception due to the application of rotavirus vaccine in infants under 2 years of age. Materials and Methods: Observational and retrospective systematic review, the search has been restricted to articles with full text, and the selected articles They were subjected to a critical reading, using the grade system to assign the strength of recommendation; where we find that 20% (02) correspond to India, China, Africa and 10% (01); Australia, Brazil, Mexico and Germany respectively Results: Of the total articles analyzed, 60% affirm that there is a risk of intestinal intussusception due to the application of the rotavirus vaccine in children under 2 years of age and 40% conclude that there is no risk of intussusception due to the administration of rotavirus vaccine. Conclusions: 6 of the reviewed articles show that there is a risk of intestinal intussusception due to the administration of the Rotavirus vaccine and 4 of the 10 reviewed articles show that there is a risk of intestinal intussusception due to the administration of the Rotavirus vaccine.

Objetivo: Sistematizar la evidencia sobre el riesgo de padecer invaginación intestinal por la aplicación de vacuna rotavirus en lactantes menores de 2 años.Materiales y Métodos: Revisión Sistemática observacional y retrospectiva, la búsqueda se ha restringido a artículos con texto completo, y los artículos seleccionados se sometieron a una lectura crítica, utilizando el sistema grade para asignar la fuerza de recomendación; donde encontramos que el 20% (02) corresponden a India, China, África y con un 10% (01); Australia, Brasil, México y Alemania respectivamente Resultados: Del total de artículos analizados el 60% afirma que existe riesgo de invaginación intestinal por aplicación de la vacuna rotavirus en menores de 2 años y el 40% concluye que no existe riesgo de invaginación por administración de vacuna rotavirus. Conclusiones: 6 de artículos revisados, muestran que existe riesgo de invaginación intestinal por administración de la vacuna Rotavirus y 4 de 10 artículos revisados muestran que existe riesgo de invaginación intestinal por administración de la vacuna Rotavirus.
