Level of knowledge on the prevention of cervical cancer in women of reproductive age from the Magdalena health center, 2020.

Abstract

Objective: Determine the level of knowledge about cervical cancer prevention in women of childbearing age at the Magdalena Health Center. Materials and methods: Qualitative, descriptive approach, cross-sectional, non-experimental methodological design. The study worked with the total population of 70 patients waiting in the outpatient clinics of the Magdalena Health Center, who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, respectively. The data collection technique was the interview and the instrument used was level of knowledge. Results: Regarding the general level of knowledge about cervical cancer prevention in women of childbearing age, we found that 72.9% presented a medium level; 20.0%, high; and 7.1% low level. With respect to the dimensions of average conceptual knowledge 45.7%, knowledge about factors 51.4% and knowledge of prevention 70.0% Conclusions: the level of knowledge about the prevention of cervical cancer in women of childbearing age at the Magdalena Health Center, in its majority, was medium and high, while the minority had a high level of knowledge.

Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de conocimientos sobre prevención del cáncer de cervicouterino en las mujeres en edad fértil del Centro de Salud de Magdalena. Materiales y métodos: Enfoque cualitativo, descriptivo, diseño metodológico de corte transversal, no experimental. En el estudio se trabajó con la población total de 70 pacientes en espera en consultorios externos del Centro de Salud de Magdalena, que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, respectivamente. La técnica de recolección de datos fue la entrevista y el instrumento utilizado nivel de conocimiento. Resultados: En cuanto al nivel de conocimientos en general sobre prevención de cáncer cervicouterino en las mujeres en edad fértil, encontramos que el 72.9% presento un nivel medio; el 20.0%, alto; y el 7.1% bajo nivel. Con respecto a las dimensiones de conocimiento conceptual medio 45.7%, conocimiento sobre factores 51.4% y conocimiento de prevención 70.0% Conclusiones: el nivel de conocimientos sobre la prevención de cáncer cervicouterino en las mujeres en edad fértil del Centro de Salud de Magdalena, en su mayoría, fue medio y alto, mientras que la minoría tuvo un nivel alto de conocimiento.
