Quality of nursing care and caregiver overload in the pediatric service of the Essalud hospital, Huacho- 2021

Abstract

The quality of care is evaluated according to people's perceptions. When talking about quality of care in healthcare services, it becomes even more relevant, as it involves not only taking care of the patient but also improving their stay in the hospital by providing quality in both material and human resources. That is, it is not only about following established procedures and protocols but also about showing warmth in the care provided. Additionally, it is the patient or their family members who define the quality of service based on their perception, which may vary depending on the patient's condition, the emotional state or mental health of the family members, etc. The main objective of this research is to determine how the perception of parents regarding the quality of nursing care is related to the degree of caregiver burden in pediatric patients at the Gustavo Lanata Lujan Hospital, Huacho 2021. The research is applied with a quantitative approach, descriptive-correlational level, and a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The population and sample consist of 100 parents or guardians of children hospitalized at the Essalud Hospital of Huacho between September and November 2021. The technique used is the survey, and two questionnaires will be applied: one to measure the parents' or guardians' perception of the quality of the pediatric service, and another scale to measure caregiver burden (both instruments validated and highly reliable). The data will be processed statistically using Spearman's correlation coefficient and presented in tables and figures.

La calidad de atención es evaluada de acuerdo a la percepción de las personas, cuando se habla de calidad de atención en servicio de salud es más relevante, pues no solo se trata de cuidar al paciente sino de mejorar su estadía en el Hospital brindándole calidad en cuanto a recursos materiales y humanos, es decir no sólo cumplir con los procedimientos y protocolos establecidos sino también calidez en el trato. Asimismo, el paciente o familiares son quienes definen la calidad del servicio de acuerdo a su percepción, la cual variaría teniendo en cuenta el estado del paciente, el ánimo o salud mental de los familiares, etc. La investigación tiene como objetivo principal determinar de qué manera la percepción de los padres de familia respecto a la calidad de atención de enfermería se relaciona con el grado de sobrecarga del cuidador de paciente pediátrico en el Hospital Gustavo Lanata Lujan, Huacho 2021. La investigación es aplicada y con enfoque cuantitativo, de nivel descriptivo correlacional y diseño no experimental transversal. La población y muestra censal son 100 padres o apoderados de los niños hospitalizados en el hospital Essalud de Huacho durante el periodo setiembre a noviembre del 2021.La técnica es la encuesta y se aplicarán un cuestionario para medir la variable percepción de los padres o apoderados respecto a la calidad en el servicio de pediatría y una escala para medir la sobrecarga del cuidador (ambos instrumentos validados y con alta confiabilidad). Los datos serán procesados estadísticamente con el coeficiente de correlación de Spearman y presentados en tablas y figuras.
