Level of knowledge and practice in the use of the electrocardiogram in nursing professionals of the emergency service of the public regional hospital, Huancayo 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide, with more than 17.9 million lives lost each year. In Peru, ischemic heart disease and cerebrovascular disease are the main causes of death in older adults. The electrocardiogram is a key tool in the detection and diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases, providing vital information for the treatment of arrhythmias in critical care settings. Objective: Determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practice in the use of the electrocardiogram in Nursing professionals of the Emergency Service of the Public Regional Hospital, Huancayo 2023. Methods: The present research study is of an applied type, focus quantitative, cross-sectional correlational and the type of design is non-experimental. The study will have a census population that will be composed of Nursing professionals from the Emergency service, non-probabilistic sampling was carried out for convenience. Data will be collected through surveys using questionnaire-type instruments adapted and validated by Melgarejo for the target population. The information obtained will be processed using an analytical basis and the Student's T test, and the background mentioned in the study will be taken into account in the discussion of the research results.

Introducción: Las enfermedades cardiovasculares son la principal causa de muerte a nivel mundial, con más de 17,9 millones de vidas perdidas al año. En Perú, las cardiopatías isquémicas y la enfermedad cerebrovascular son las principales causas de muerte en adultos mayores. El electrocardiograma es una herramienta clave en la detección y diagnóstico de enfermedades cardiovasculares, proporcionando información vital para el tratamiento de arritmias en entornos de cuidados críticos. Métodos: La presente investigación de estudio es de tipo aplicado, enfoque cuantitativo, correlacional de corte transversal y el tipo de diseño es no experimental. El estudio contará con una población censal que estará compuesta por los profesionales de Enfermería del servicio de Emergencia, Se realizó un muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Se recolectarán datos a través de encuestas empleándose instrumentos tipo cuestionario adaptados y validados por Melgarejo para la población objetivo. La información obtenida será procesada utilizando una base analítica y la prueba T de Student, y los antecedentes mencionados en el estudio se tendrán en cuenta en la discusión de los resultados de la investigación.
