Introduction: The overload of the family caregiver triggers health problems that afflict life. The patient with chronic kidney disease becomes dependent on the different changes during the disease process, which makes the caregiver a servant to her care, leaving aside his personal care that puts his quality of life at risk. Objective: To determine how the overload is related to the quality of life in the family caregiver of the patient with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis treatment in a private clinic in Lima, 2023. Methods: This research will be of a hypothetical - deductive method with a quantitative approach, applied, with a non-experimental or observational, correlational and cross-sectional design. The sample was made up of 60 relatives of the patients to whom two instruments were applied; the Zarit Scale to measure overload, made up of 22 items measured on the Likert scale, grouped into three dimensions. The other instrument will measure the quality of life with the Olson and Barnes scale, consisting of 25 items measured on the Likert scale and grouped into seven dimensions.
Resumen
Introducción: La sobrecarga del cuidador familiar desencadena problemas de salud que aquejan la vida. El paciente con enfermedad renal crónico se vuelve dependiente a los cambios diferentes durante el proceso de su enfermedad lo que vuelve al cuidador un servidor a sus cuidados dejando a lado sus cuidados personales que pone en riesgo su calidad de vida. Objetivo: Determinar como la sobrecarga se relaciona con la calidad de vida en el cuidador familiar del paciente con enfermedad renal crónica en tratamiento de hemodiálisis en una clínica privada de Lima, 2023. Métodos: Esta investigación será de método hipotético – deductivo de enfoque cuantitativo, aplicada, con diseño no experimental u observacional, correlacional y transversal. La muestra fue conformada por 60 familiares de los pacientes a quienes se les aplico dos instrumentos; la Escala Zarit para medir la sobre carga, conformado por 22 ítems con medición en escala de Likert, agrupados en tres dimensiones. El otro instrumento medirá la calidad de vida con la escala de Olson y Barnes consta de 25 ítems medidos en escala de Likert y agrupados en siete dimensiones
