Sociocultural factors and lifestyles of older adults with type II diabetes mellitus of the internal medicine hospitalization service of the Grau Emergency Hospital, 2024

Abstract

Introduction: The sociocultural factors of the older adult are fundamental and necessary, currently those should be immersed in all organizations, therefore the lifestyle is expected to be ideal and healthy in the older adult with diabetes. Objective: To determine the relationship between sociocultural factors and lifestyles of older adults with type II diabetes mellitus in the Internal Medicine Hospitalization Service of the Grau 2024 Emergency Hospital. Methods: the methodology is hypothetical deductive, non-experimental design, applied, cross-sectional and quantitative approach. The study will have a sample of 50 older adults with type II diabetes mellitus in the Internal Medicine Hospitalization Service. The survey technique will be used and the questionnaires will be used as instruments: Lifestyle Scale, elaborated by Walker, Sechrist and Nola Pender (1996) and the scale on Sociocultural Factors of the Elderly, this instrument was developed by the author herself, in the collection of information will be a duration of 20 minutes for each participant. The data collected will be analyzed and interpreted with tables and graphs; the contrastation of the hypothesis will use the lifestyle profile questionnaire (PEPS-I), by Nola Pender, whose variance was 45.9% and reliability between 0.7 and 0.9.

Los factores socioculturales del adulto mayor son fundamentales y necesarias, actualmente aquellas deben de estar inmersas en todas las organizaciones, por ello el estilo de vida se espera que sea ideal y saludable en el adulto mayor con diabetes. Objetivo: determinar la relación que existe entre los factores socioculturales y los estilos de vida del adulto mayor con diabetes mellitus tipo II en el servicio de hospitalización de medicina interna del hospital de emergencias grau 2024. Métodos: la metodología es hipotética deductiva, de diseño no experimental, tipo aplicada, de corte transversal y enfoque cuantitativo. El estudio tendrá como muestra 50 adultos mayores con diabetes mellitus tipo II en el servicio de hospitalización de medicina interna en el hospital de emergencias Grau. Se usará de técnica la encuesta y como instrumento los cuestionarios serán: Escala del Estilo de Vida, elaborado por Walker, Sechrist y Nola Pender (1996) y la escala sobre Factores socioculturales del Adulto Mayor, este instrumento fue desarrollado por la propia autora y juicio de expertos, en recolección de la información será una duración de 20 minutos para cada participante. Los datos recolectados serán analizados e interpretados con tablas y gráficos; la contrastación de la hipótesis se utilizará el cuestionario del perfil de estilo de vida (PEPS-I), de Nola Pender cuya varianza fue de 45,9% y fiabilidad entre 0,7 y 0,9.
