Work stress and performance of nursing staff at the PNP Augusto B. Leguia hospital 2023

Abstract

Objective: To determine how work stress is related to the performance of the nursing staff at the PNP Augusto B. Leguía 2023 Hospital. Material and Method: it is a quantitative approach, descriptive type, the population was 108 nursing professionals, 2 instruments were used, for the variable work stress was the Nurse Stress Scale (NSS) prepared by James Anderson and Pamela Gray in 1981 and validated by the Peruvian researcher Yolfa Condezo Meléndez giving as a result statistically through Aiken's "V", the same one that gave VAiken=1.00 and a Cronbach's Alpha reliability and obtained α=0.93, having 3 dimensions and 26 items with 5 Likert scale response alternatives. For the performance variable, the questionnaire prepared and validated by the Peruvian researcher Mery Loayza Chacara was used with a validation by expert judgment, through content validity that resulted in acceptable validation and reliability through Cronbach's Alpha and obtained α=0.948, having 4 dimensions and 31 items with Likert scale-type alternatives. The results: in relation to the work stress variable, of the total surveys carried out (108), 56.5% show moderate work stress, 35.2% severe and 8.3% mild. For the work performance variable, it was found that 56.5% have high work performance, 29.6% low, and 13.9% show medium performance in the Nursing staff of the PNP Augusto B. Leguía Hospital. Conclusions: the relationship between the variables is inverse and very good, that is, as job stress increases with a Spearman coefficient of -0.880 and a value of the calculated significance is 0.000 < 0.05, which indicates that the relationship is significant Spearman coefficient is -0.880.

Objetivo: Determinar cómo el estrés laboral se relaciona con el desempeño del personal de enfermería en el Hospital PNP Augusto B. Leguía 2023. Material y Método: es de enfoque cuantitativo, tipo descriptivo, la población fue de 108 profesionales de enfermería , se utilizó 2 instrumentos, para la variable estrés laboral fue el Nurse Stress Scale (NSS) elaborado por James Anderson y Pamela Gray en el año 1981 y validado por la investigadora peruana Yolfa Condezo Meléndez dando como resultado estadísticamente a través de la “V” de Aiken, el mismo que dio VAiken=1.00 y una confiabilidad Alfa de Cronbach y obtuvo α=0.93 , teniendo 3 dimensiones y 26 ítems con 5 alternativas de respuesta tipo escala de Likert. Para la variable desempeño se utilizó el cuestionario elaborado y validado por la investigadora peruana Mery Loayza Chacara con una validación por juicio de expertos, a través de la validez de contenido que dio como resultado una validación aceptable y una confiabilidad mediante el Alfa de Cronbach y obtuvo α=0.948, teniendo 4 dimensiones y 31 ítems con alterativas tipo escala de Likert. Los resultados: en relación con la variable estrés laboral, del total de encuestas realizadas (108), el 56.5% evidencia un estrés laboral moderado, el 35.2% severo y el 8.3 % leve. Para la variable desempeño laboral se obtuvo que el 56.5% tiene un alto desempeño laboral alto, 29.6% bajo y el 13.9% evidencia un desempeño medio en el personal de Enfermería del Hospital PNP Augusto B. Leguía. Conclusiones: la relación entre las variables es inversa y muy buena, es decir a medida que el estrés laboral aumente con un coeficiente de Spearman es -0.880 y un valor de la significancia calculada es 0.000 < 0.05 lo que india que la relación es significativa con el coeficiente de Spearman es -0.880
