Attitude of the nurses towards the death of patients in the emergency department of Edgardo Rebagliati Martins National Hospital, Lima 2020.

Abstract

The research proposal presented here falls within the scope of emergency services and considers the nurses who perform their duties in situations with high severity levels that result in fatal outcomes. In such a situation, the concern arises regarding the attitude of nurses, as beyond professional expertise and required procedures, they face a situation that can generate various emotional and psychological reactions that need to be understood and controlled or reversed, as they can harm not only them but also the people they care for, the families, and the entire healthcare system. Objective: To determine the attitude of nurses towards the death of patients in the Emergency Service of the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins Hospital, Lima - 2020. Material and Method: The research is quantitative, basic, with a descriptive design, as it aims to detail as precisely as possible the characteristics of the study variable and is cross-sectional. The population is 230 nurses working in the Emergency Service of the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins Hospital, and the instrument used is the questionnaire.

La propuesta de investigación que aquí se presenta se enmarca dentro del ámbito del servicio de emergencia y considera a los enfermeros que desarrollan su labor en todas aquellas situaciones que reportan niveles de gravedad tan altos que comportan un desenlace fatal. Ante esta situación, surge la inquietud respecto a la actitud de los enfermeros pues más allá de la expertis profesional y de los procedimientos que se deben cumplir, se enfrentan a una situación que puede generarles diversas reacciones emocionales y psicológicas que es necesario conocer para poder controlar o revertir, ya que no solo puede perjudicarlos a ellos, sino también a las personas que atienden, a los familiares y a todo el sistema sanitario en su conjunto. Objetivo: Determinar la actitud de los enfermeros ante la muerte de pacientes del Servicio de Emergencia del Hospital Edgardo Rebagliati Martins, Lima - 2020. Material yMetodo: La investigación es cuantitativa, básica, con diseño descriptivo, pues se orienta a detallar con la mayor precisión posible las características de la variable de estudio y de corte transversal. La población es de 230 enfermeros que laboran en el Servicio de Emergencias del Hospital Edgardo Rebagliati Martins y el instrumento el cuestionario.
