Effectiveness of a single-lumen aspiration needle versus a double-lumen aspiration needle in follicular aspiration in patients with high-complexity infertility issues

Abstract

Materials and Methods: The research was quantitative, and the study design is a systematic review. The population consists of a literature review of 10 scientific articles published in scientific databases in Spanish and English, with a maximum age of ten years. The databases used were: EBSCO, PubMed, Scielo, Epistemonikos, and the Journal of Assisted Reproduction. A critical and intensive evaluation of each article was conducted using the GRADE method, which provides a systematic and transparent way to summarize the evidence.

Results: Of the total, 50% are from the United States, 20% from Turkey, and 10% each from China, Germany, and Egypt, respectively. Regarding study designs, 60% are randomized controlled trials, 10% are meta-analyses, 10% are retrospective studies, 10% are cohort studies, and 10% are systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The studies were quantitative.

Conclusions: It was concluded that 50% of the studies demonstrate the effectiveness of a single-lumen needle, 30% indicate that both needles are effective, and 20% show that the double-lumen needle is effective in follicular washing.

Materiales y métodos: La investigación fue de tipo cuantitativo y el diseño de estudio es una revisión sistemática. La población está constituida por la revisión bibliográfica de 10 artículos científicos publicados en las bases de datos científicas en idiomas español e inglés, con una antigüedad no mayor de diez años. Las bases de datos utilizadas fueron: EBSCO, PubMed, Scielo, Epistemonikos y Journal of Assisted Reproduction. Se realizó una evaluación crítica e intensiva de cada artículo a través del método GRADE, que ofrece una forma sistemática y transparente de resumir la evidencia. Resultados: Del 100%, el 50% corresponden a EE.UU., un 20% a Turquía y el 10% a China, Alemania y Egipto, cada uno respectivamente. En relación a los diseños de estudio, el 60% equivale a ensayos controlados aleatorizados, el 10% a metaanálisis, el 10% a estudios retrospectivos, el 10% a estudios de cohorte y el 10% a revisión sistemática y metaanálisis. Los estudios fueron cuantitativos. Conclusiones: Se concluyó que el 50% de los estudios evidencian la eficacia de la aguja de un lumen, un 30% indican que ambas agujas son eficaces y un 20% muestran que la aguja de doble lumen es eficaz en el lavado folicular.
