Abstract

Motor disorders in cerebral palsy are often accompanied by sensory, perception, cognition, communication, and behavioral issues, epilepsy, and secondary musculoskeletal problems. Children with chronic problems of this nature are mostly cared for by their mothers. The patient’s low functionality, the hours spent caring, anxiety, depression, and mental health are factors that modulate the moderate overload in female caregivers, reaffirming their vulnerable condition. The objective of the study is to "Determine the relationship between maternal overload and functional level in children with cerebral palsy." The methodology is applied, using a hypothetical-deductive method with a quantitative approach, a non-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional design. The sample will consist of 80 mothers and their children. The instruments used will be the Zrit Scale for maternal overload and the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) for the children’s functional level.

Los trastornos motores de la parálisis cerebral están a menudo acompañados por alteraciones de la sensación, percepción, cognición, comunicación y conducta, por epilepsia y por problemas musculoesqueléticos secundarios. Los niños que presentan problemas crónicos de este tipo, en su mayoría, sus cuidadoras principales son sus madres. La poca funcionalidad del paciente, las horas dedicadas al cuidado, la ansiedad, la depresión y la salud psíquica son moduladores de la sobrecarga moderada en cuidadoras mujeres, lo que reafirma la condición de vulnerabilidad. La muestra estará conformada por 80 madres y sus hijos.
