Family functioning and academic performance in Norbert Wiener university nursing students, 2020-i

Abstract

Objective: Identify the direct relationship between the Cohesion dimension of Family Functioning and the Academic Performance of nursing students. Material and methods: Under the quantitative approach, basic type, correlational descriptive level, non-experimental design, there was a sample of 110 nursing students, 87% of whom were women and aged between 20 and 41 years. The Family Cohesion and Adaptability Evaluation Scale – FACES IV was applied and the final grades of four most representative subjects according to their cycle were obtained from the university. The types of family were mostly identified: nuclear 30.9%, single-parent 29.1% and extended family 28.2%.

Objetivo: Identificar la relación directa entre la dimensión Cohesión del Funcionamiento Familiar y el Rendimiento Académico de los estudiantes de enfermería. Material y métodos: Bajo el enfoque cuantitativo, tipo básica, nivel descriptivo correlacional, diseño no experimental, se contó con una muestra de 110 estudiantes de enfermería, siendo el 87% mujeres y con edades entre 20 a 41 años. Se aplicó la Escala de evaluación de la Cohesión y Adaptabilidad Familiar – FACES IV y se obtuvo por parte de la universidad las calificaciones finales de cuatro materias más representativas según su ciclo. Se identificaron mayormente los tipos de familia: nuclear un 30,9%, monoparental un 29,1% y familia extensa un 28,2%.
