Level of knowledge about tuberculosis and attitude towards the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis in patients at the San José health center, Villa El Salvador 2023

Abstract

Objective: To determine how the level of knowledge about tuberculosis is related to the attitude towards the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis in patients of the San José Health Center, Villa El Salvador 2023. Methodology: A quantitative, non-experimental, applied, observational, correlational and cross-sectional study with a sample of 40 patients who attended the health center, using the Huamán questionnaire as a data collection instrument, maintaining adequate reliability and validity for its application to the participants. Results: The level of knowledge about tuberculosis was medium in 67.5%, followed by low levels in 22.5% and high in 10%, representing an important health problem. Likewise, attitudes towards the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis showed acceptance in 47.5% of the participants, indifference in 35% and, finally, rejection in 17.5%. Conclusion: The relationship between both study variables is high and positive, totaling a correlation coefficient of 0.721.

Objetivo: Determinar cómo el nivel de conocimiento sobre la tuberculosis se relaciona con la actitud hacia el tratamiento de tuberculosis pulmonar de los pacientes del Centro de Salud San José, Villa El Salvador 2023. Metodología: Estudio de enfoque cuantitativo, no experimental, aplicado, observacional, correlacional y de corte transversal que emplea como muestra a 40 pacientes que asistieron a la entidad sanitaria, tomando el cuestionario de Huamán como instrumento de recolección de datos, manteniendo una confiabilidad y validez adecuada para su aplicación en los participantes. Resultados: El nivel de conocimientos sobre la tuberculosis fue medio en el 67.5%, seguido de niveles bajos en el 22.5% y altos en el 10%, representando una problemática sanitaria importante. Asimismo, las actitudes hacia el tratamiento de la tuberculosis pulmonar demostraron aceptación en el 47.5% de los participantes, indiferencia en el 35% y, por último, rechazo en el 17.5%. Conclusión: La relación entre ambas variables de estudio es alta y positiva, totalizando en un coeficiente de correlación de 0.721.
