Academic stress and sleep quality in students of the eighth cycle of nursing at a private university in Lima, 2023

Abstract

The general objective of this research was to determine the relationship between academic stress and quality of sleep-in students of the eighth cycle of nursing at a private university in Lima, 2023. The hypothetical deductive, quantitative, applied, cross-sectional method was applied. and correlational level. The population was made up of 80 nursing students from the eighth cycle of a private university in Lima. The technique was the survey, the instrument applied was the SISCO SV Inventory of academic stress and the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (ICSP). The statistical results showed that there is no significant relationship between the academic stress variable and sleep quality (p=0.294) and they are related in a minimal negative way (Rho = -0.117). The decision is made not to reject the null hypothesis and not to accept the alternative hypothesis. It was concluded that stress is not related to sleep quality in nursing students at a private university in Lima. It is recommended to carry out further research that demonstrates the multicausality of academic stress in nursing students.

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo general Determinar cuál es la relación entre estrés académico y calidad de Sueño en estudiantes del octavo ciclo de enfermería de una universidad privada de Lima, 2023. Se aplicó el método hipotético deductivo, cuantitativo, tipo aplicada, de corte transversal y nivel correlacional. La población estuvo constituida por 80 estudiantes de enfermería del octavo ciclo de una universidad privada de Lima. La técnica fue la encuesta, el instrumento aplicado fue el Inventario SISCO SV del estrés académico y el Indice de la calidad de sueño de Pittsburg (ICSP). Los resultados estadísticos mostraron que no existe relación significativa entre la variable estrés académico y calidad de sueño (p=0.294) y se relacionan de forma negativa mínima (Rho = -0.117). Se toma la decisión de no rechazar la hipótesis nula y no aceptar la hipótesis alterna. Se llegó a la conclusión que el estrés no se relaciona con la calidad de sueño en los estudiantes de enfermería de una universidad privada de Lima. Se recomienda realizar posteriores investigaciones que demuestren la multicausalidad del estrés académico en estudiantes de enfermería
