Satisfaction of the family member of the critical patient in the intensive care unit of the Dos de Mayo National Hospital, Lima - 2020

Abstract

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is one that provides individualized care to critically ill patients whose vital functions are actually or potentially impaired. Rodríguez (2019), in Spain, reports that the support provided by additional information such as text messages from nursing staff to the families of patients admitted to the ICU about their evolution increased the satisfaction of their needs and therefore hence the perceived quality of care in the ICU. Revealing that of the total number of respondents, 48.5% rate it as very useful. The objective of the present study is to analyze the satisfaction of the family member of the critically ill patient in the intensive care unit of the Dos de Mayo National Hospital, Lima 2020. This study responds to the research line of the Norbert Wiener University "Health, illness and environment" . The purpose of this research work is to identify the level of satisfaction of the patient's relatives in the intensive care unit with respect to the care provided by the nursing staff, according to 7 dimensions: General satisfaction, technical quality, interpersonal manner, communication , financial aspects, time dedicated by the doctor, accessibility and convenience.

La Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos (UCI) es aquella que brinda una atención individualizada a pacientes en estado crítico cuyas funciones vitales están real o potencialmente deterioradas. Rodríguez (2019), en España refiere que el apoyo proporcionado por información adicional como los mensajes de texto de parte del personal de enfermería para las familias de los pacientes ingresados en la UCI sobre la evolución de los mismos aumentó la satisfacción de sus necesidades y por ende la calidad percibida de la atención en la UCI. Revelando que del total de encuestados el 48.5% lo califica como muy útil. El objetivo del presente estudio es analizar la satisfacción del familiar del paciente crítico en la unidad de cuidados intensivos del Hospital Nacional Dos de Mayo, Lima 2020. Este estudio responde a la línea de investigación de la Universidad Norbert Wiener “Salud, enfermedad y ambiente”. El propósito de este trabajo de investigación es identificar el nivel de satisfacción de los familiares del paciente en la unidad de cuidados intensivos con respecto a los cuidados brindados por el personal de enfermería, según 7 dimensiones: Satisfacción general, calidad técnica, forma interpersonal, comunicación, aspectos financieros, tiempo dedicado por el médico, accesibilidad y conveniencia.
