Nutritional status and hospital stay in patients hospitalized in the Covid-19 area of ​​the PNP Augusto B. Leguía hospital-January 2022

Abstract

Nutritional diagnosis has become one of the pillars for the design of the nutritional plan aimed at supporting recovery from illness, the increase in days of hospitalization called hospital stay requires adequate monitoring in compliance with the proposed clinical therapy. Objective: Determine the nutritional status and hospital stay in patients hospitalized in the COVID-19 area of ​​the PNP Augusto B. Leguía hospital - January 2022. Methodology: It is a Deductive study, with a quantitative approach, the design is Non-experimental, prospective. cross section. Data were taken from the Medical Records of 62 patients hospitalized in the COVID-19 area of ​​the PNP Augusto B. Leguía hospital in January 2022. Results: 64.52% belong to the male sex, among the nutritional characteristics we find the Body Mass Index of the population diagnosed as overweight 26.71+2.92, presents anemia, hemoglobin is 12.34+1.32 g/dL), does not present hyperglycemia, presenting glucose of 95.95+6.72 mg/dL and elevated C-Reactive Protein 107.40+38.67 mg/L. 40.32% of the population is overweight and obese. 56.45% have a prolonged stay of more than 10 days. Conclusion: It is found that the increase in days of hospitalization in our population decreases weight, consequently, BMI, hemoglobin also decreases, but increases CRP and glycemia.
