Circumstances influencing adherence to multimicronutrients in mothers of children aged 6 to 36 months at the San Martín Base Health Center, Lima – 2018

Abstract

Objective: Determine the circumstances that influence the adherence of multimicronutrients in mothers of children from 6 to 36 months at the San Martín Base Health Center, Lima - 2018. Materials and methods: The type of research is basic, descriptive level, quantitative approach , non-experimental cross-sectional design. The non-probabilistic convenience sample consisted of 60 mothers of children from 6 to 36 months. The survey was used as a technique and a validated instrument as a questionnaire to determine the relevant influencing circumstances. Results: Of the total number of mothers surveyed, we can mention that the circumstances that most influence supplementation is the importance of monitoring supplement consumption with 73.3%; followed by 70% adequate distribution of the supplement; Likewise, 90% indicate that monitoring of the supplementation process is very scarce; 45% do not have positive comments about the supplement; and 21.7% present a level of recognition of the signs and symptoms of the disease. Conclusions: Of all the circumstances that were taken into account, the majority influence mothers to obtain good adherence to supplementation; Likewise, the circumstance related to the person supplying has more influence.

Objetivo: Determinar las circunstancias que influyen en la adherencia de multimicronutrientes en madres de niños de 6 a 36 meses en el Centro de Salud Base San Martín, Lima – 2018. Materiales y métodos: El tipo de investigación es básico, nivel descriptivo, enfoque cuantitativo, diseño no experimental de corte transversal. La muestra no probabilística por conveniencia estuvo constituida por 60 madres de niños de 6 a 36 meses. Se utilizó como técnica la encuesta y como cuestionario un instrumento validado para determinar las circunstancias relevantes que influyen. Resultados: Del total de madres encuestadas, podemos mencionar que las circunstancias que más influyen en la suplementación es la importancia de llevar un monitoreo del consumo del suplemento con un 73.3%; seguido de un 70% de adecuada distribución del suplemento; asimismo, el 90% indica que el monitoreo del proceso de suplementación es muy escasa; el 45% no presentan comentarios positivos sobre el suplemento; y el 21.7% presentan un nivel de reconocimiento de los signos y síntomas de la enfermedad. Conclusiones: De todas las circunstancias que se tomaron en cuenta, la mayoría influye en las madres para obtener una buena adherencia en la suplementación; asimismo, la circunstancia relacionada a la persona que suministra tiene más influencia.
