Anxiety and coping styles in primary caregivers of patients with schizophrenia of the Esperanza Huánuco Community Mental Health Center – 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Because schizophrenia is one of the most disabling mental health problems, the person who meets the need for patient care is the primary caregiver. Primary caregivers of people with schizophrenia often have strong and varied emotional responses, such as anxiety, and use certain coping styles and strategies to improve their well-being and mental health. Objective: To establish the relationship between anxiety and coping styles in primary caregivers of patients with schizophrenia at the Esperanza Community Mental Health Center, Huánuco-2023. Methods: The study of applied, inductive, quantitative and correlational type. The census sample will consist of 90 primary caregivers of patients with schizophrenia from the Esperanza Community Mental Health Center - Huánuco 2023. The survey will be used to apply two questionnaires to the target population; Manifest Anxiety in Adults-A by Sotelo, Domínguez and Padilla, and the Inventory of Coping Styles by Cano, Rodríguez and García, both are validated and are reliable to measure the variables in question. The collected data will be processed in SPSS 26 and the hypotheses will be tested using the statistical test of Spearman's correlation coefficient given the qualitative nature of the variables.

Objetivo: Establecer la relación entre la ansiedad y los estilos de afrontamiento en cuidadores primarios de pacientes con esquizofrenia del Centro de Salud Mental Comunitario Esperanza, Huánuco-2023. Métodos: El estudio de tipo aplicado, inductivo, cuantitativo y correlacional. La muestra censal estará constituida por 90 cuidadores primarios de pacientes con esquizofrenia del Centro de Salud Mental Comunitario Esperanza – Huánuco 2023. Se usará la encuesta para aplicar dos cuestionarios a la población objetivo; Ansiedad Manifiesta en Adultos-A por Sotelo, Domínguez y Padilla, y el Inventario de Estilos de Afrontamiento por Cano, Rodríguez y García, ambos están validados y son confiables para medir las variables en cuestión. Los datos recolectados serán procesados en SPSS 26 y las hipótesis se probarán usando la prueba estadística del coeficiente de correlación de Spearman dado la naturaleza cualitativa de las variables
