Critical Review: Obesity in women over 15 years of age as a predisposing factor for ovarian cancer

Abstract

The present research defined as a critical review, with the title: Obesity in women over 15 years of age as a predisposing factor for ovarian cancer, aimed to identify the direct and indirect relationship of obesity and its influence on the onset of ovarian cancer in pre- and post-menopausal women. The Evidence-Based Nutrition (Cloud) methodology was used. The information search was carried out in PUBMED, HINARI, MEDLINE, SCIELO, SCOPUS and SCIENCE DIRECT, finding 78 articles, of which 30 were selected that have been evaluated through the CASPE critical reading tool, finally selecting the Systematic Review entitled Obesity and risk of ovarian cancer: a systematic review, which has a level of evidence IIA and Grade of Strong Recommendation, according to the expertise of the researcher. The critical commentary allowed us to conclude that more research is needed to determine the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to the risk of ovarian cancer in obese women. However, there is evidence available that links obesity with some histological subtypes of ovarian cancer. More studies are needed to establish this relationship by histological subtypes of ovarian cancer related to obesity.

El cáncer gástrico es una enfermedad que a nivel mundial se considera un problema de salud pública. Las herramientas de tamizaje nutricional permiten identificar a los pacientes con riesgo de malnutrición que necesitan una evaluación nutricional más profunda y una intervención. La presente investigación secundaria titulada como revisión crítica: Herramientas de evaluación nutricional subjetiva en pacientes con cáncer gástrico, tuvo como objetivo conocer las herramientas de evaluación nutricional subjetiva en pacientes con cáncer gástrico. La pregunta critica fue: ¿Qué herramienta de evaluación nutricional subjetiva es más específica y sensible para pacientes adultos y adultos mayores con cáncer gástrico? Se utilizó la metodología Nutrición Basada en Evidencia (NuBE). La búsqueda de información se realizó en PUBMED, SCOPUS, SCIENCE DIRECT, encontrando 47 artículos, siendo seleccionados 10 que han sido evaluados por la herramienta para lectura crítica CASPE, seleccionándose finalmente el estudio de cohorte titulado como Comparison of Nutritional Screening Tools in Patients Undergoing Surgery for Gastric Cancer, el cual posee un nivel de evidencia BIII y Grado de Recomendación I, de acuerdo con la expertise del investigador. El comentario crítico permitió concluir que la herramienta MNA-SF es la más específica y sensible para pacientes adultos y adultos mayores con cáncer gástrico.
