Level of knowledge and attitudes about handwashing in 5th grade primary school students of the I.E N ° 1133 Santísima Virgen De Fátima, San Luis, Lima–2019

Abstract

Objective: to determine the level of knowledge and attitudes about handwashing in 5th grade elementary school students at IE N°1133 Santísima Virgen de Fátima. San Luis – 2019. Material and method: the research was quantitative in approach, non-experimental design, prospective time with a descriptive cross-sectional period. The sample population consisted of 108 5th grade elementary school students. The technique used was a personal survey and the instrument applied was the questionnaire entitled "Handwashing Attitude Questionnaire" by Chacaliaza Morales Víctor. Results: regarding the level of knowledge about handwashing, 54% of schoolchildren have a high level of knowledge, 22% have a medium level of knowledge and 24% have a low level of knowledge. Regarding attitudes about handwashing, more than half 66% of schoolchildren have favorable attitudes and 34% of schoolchildren have unfavorable attitudes. Conclusions: Schoolchildren have a high level of knowledge about handwashing and have favorable attitudes; but in the food handling dimension they have unfavorable attitudes and in the personal hygiene dimension they have favorable attitudes.

Objetivo: determinar el nivel de conocimiento y actitudes sobre el lavado de manos en escolares de 5to grado de primaria de la I.E N°1133 Santísima Virgen de Fátima. San Luis – 2019. Material y método: la investigación fue de enfoque cuantitativo, de diseño no experimental, tiempo prospectivo con periodo transversal de tipo descriptivo. la población – muestra estuvo conformada por 108 escolares de 5to grado de primaria. la técnica utilizada fue una encuesta de tipo personal y el instrumento aplicado fue el cuestionario titulado “Cuestionario Actitud Sobre el Lavado de Manos” de Chacaliaza Morales Víctor. Resultados: en cuanto al nivel de conocimiento sobre el lavado de manos el 54% de los escolares tienen un nivel de conocimiento alto, el 22% tienen un nivel de conocimiento medio y el 24% tienen el nivel de conocimiento bajo. en cuanto a las actitudes sobre el lavado de manos más de la mitad 66% de los escolares presentan actitudes favorables y el 34% de los escolares presentan actitudes desfavorables. Conclusiones: los escolares tienen un nivel de conocimiento alto sobre el lavado de manos además presentan actitudes favorables; pero en la dimensión manejo de alimentos tienen actitudes desfavorables y en la dimensión higiene personal tienen actitudes favorables.
