Level of knowledge of nursing staff about pressure injuries and how to prevent them in hospitalized patients in medicine, surgery and emergency services of level III hospitals, 2023

Abstract

Currently critically ill patients are at increased risk of developing pressure injuries due to advanced age, inability to move, hemodynamic instability, or other factors. The way nurses provide care is considered an indicator of the quality of care. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to correctly assess the risk of pressure injuries and implement a set of actions and measures aimed primarily to prevent or reduce the occurrence of injuries, primarily in the Medical, Surgical and Emergency units. OBJECTIVE: Determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of nursing staff about pressure injuries and how to prevent them in hospitalized patients in the Medicine, Surgery and Emergency services of level III hospitals, 2023. METHODOLOGY: The method of this study uses a quantitative method with crosssectional correlation level approach applied hypothesis - deductive type and data will be obtained over time by analyzing relationship between variables. The sample is composed of 121 nurses working in the Medicine, Surgery and Emergency services of a sanatorium in Trujillo. The technique used is a survey and the instrument is two questionnaires to measure each variable, both instruments are previously validated by authors in Perú. The data acquired were processed in Microsoft Excel and then in SPSS 26. The SPEARMAN RHO statistic was used for descriptive and inferential analysis.

Paciente critico enfermo tiene un mayor riesgo de desarrollo de lesiones por presión, debido a la edad avanzada, incapacidad de moverse, inestabilidad hemodinámica u otros factores. La forma en que las enfermeras brindan atención considerado un indicador de la calidad de la atención. Por ello, es de suma importancia evaluar correctamente el riesgo de sufrir lesiones por presión e implementar un conjunto de acciones y medidas encaminadas principalmente para prevenir o reducir la ocurrencia de las lesiones, primordialmente en las unidades de Medicina, Cirugía y Emergencia. OBJETIVO: Determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento del personal de enfermería sobre lesiones por presión y como prevenirlas en pacientes hospitalizados en los servicios de Medicina, Cirugía y Emergencia de hospital nivel III, 2023. METODOLOGIA: El método de este estudio utiliza un método cuantitativo con enfoque nivel de correlación transversal aplicado tipo hipótesis - deductivo y se obtendrán datos a lo largo del tiempo al analizar relación entre variables. La muestra está integrada por 121 enfermeras que laboran en los servicios Medicina, Cirugía y Emergencia de un sanatorio de Trujillo. La técnica utilizada es una encuesta y el instrumento son dos cuestionarios para medir cada variable, ambos instrumentos están validados.
