Burnout syndrome and associated factors in the care staff of the Synlab clinical laboratory - headquarters in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. Lima, 2022

Abstract

Objective: To identify the relationship between Burnout Syndrome (BOS) and associated factors in the laboratory staff at SYNLAB Central Headquarters during the COVID-19 pandemic in Lima, 2022. Materials and methods: A data collection form was used to gather information on biological, personal, work-related, and economic factors, and the Maslach Burnout Inventory - HSS was employed. Results: The found burnout level was medium (73.5%), followed by low and high levels (22.5% and 3.9%, respectively). The study population consisted of 74.5% females, with 50% in the 20-30 age group, and 66.7% expressed moderate satisfaction with their salary. A Spearman Rho of 0.875 with a p-value ≥0.05 indicated no correlation between the associated factors and BOS; however, a statistically significant relationship was found between BOS, age, and satisfaction with remuneration (p-values of 0.00 and 0.042, respectively). Conclusion: No correlation was found between associated factors and burnout syndrome, but there was a statistically significant relationship between BOS, age, and satisfaction with salary.

Objetivo: Identificar la relación que existe entre el Síndrome de Burnout (SBO) y los factores asociados en el personal asistencial del laboratorio SYNLAB Sede Central en el contexto de la pandemia por COVID — 19, Lima, 2022. Materiales y métodos: se usó una ficha de recolección de datos para recabar información sobre los factores biológicos, personales, laborales y económicos, además se usó el Maslach Burnout Inventory — HSS. Resultados: el nivel de burnout hallado fue medio (73.5%), seguido del nivel bajo y alto, (22.5% y 3.9%, respectivamente), el 74.5% es de sexo femenino, el 50% oscilaba entre los 20 a 30 años, el 66.7% tiene satisfacción moderada por su salario. Asimismo, se obtuvo un Rho de Spearman con un P valor de 0.875 (mayor o igual a 0.05) por Io que no hubo correlación entre los factores asociados y el SBO, sin embargo existe una relación estadísticamente significativa entre el SBO, la edad y la satisfacción por la remuneración (P valor de: 0.00 y 0.042, respectivamente). Conclusión: no existe correlación entre los factores asociados y el síndrome de burnout, la presentación de los niveles de burnout en el personal asistencial fue de 73.5% presenta un nivel medio, los factores asociados como la edad y la satisfacción por remuneración económica tienen relación estadísticamente significativa con el SBO.
