Education in patient safety culture and the evaluation of quality in the provision of services of the professional graduated from postgraduate health in a surgical center of a national hospital in Lima, 2021.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to describe the relationship between education in patient safety culture and the evaluation of quality in the provision of services by the graduate health professional in the surgical center of a national hospital in Lima, 2021. The applied method was the hypothetical deductive method with quantitative approach of applied type with descriptive correlational level with non-experimental, cross-sectional design. A questionnaire adapted from the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (HSOPS) of the Agency for Health Research and Quality (AHRQ) was used, consisting of 54 items with 6 dimensions, each dimension validated with the Cronbach alpha. The sample consisted of graduate health professionals. In the statistical analysis, Spearman's Rho coefficient was used, which showed a significant correspondence between the variable’s education in patient safety culture and the evaluation of quality in the provision of services, as well as their dimensions. In this research it was concluded that the more the learning outcome of the professionals is evidenced, as well as the teamwork and communication, the better the quality of the service provided in a surgical center of a national hospital in Lima.

Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo describir la relación de la educación en cultura de seguridad del paciente y la evaluación de la calidad en la prestación de servicios del profesional egresado de posgrado de salud en centro quirúrgico de un hospital nacional de Lima, 2021. El método aplicado fue el hipotético deductivo con enfoque cuantitativo de tipo aplicada con nivel descriptivo correlacional con diseño no experimental, transversal. Se utilizó un cuestionario adaptado del Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Cultur (HSOPS) de la Agency for health research and quality-AHRQ) que consta de 54 Ítems con 6 dimensiones y cada dimensión validada con el alfa de Cronbach. La muestra estuvo conformada por profesionales egresados de posgrado de salud. En el análisis estadístico se utilizó el coeficiente de Rho de Spearman con el cual se pudo observar una correspondencia significativa entre las variables educación en cultura de seguridad del paciente y la evaluación de la calidad en la prestación de servicios, así como sus dimensiones. En esta investigación se concluyó que mientras más se evidencia el resultado del aprendizaje de los profesionales, así como el trabajo en equipo y la comunicación se observa una mejora en la calidad del servicio brindado en un centro quirúrgico de un hospital nacional de Lima.
