Elasticity of the iliopsoas, flexibility of the lumbar spine and hyperlordosis in patients with low back pain from a hospital in the city of La Merced, 2022

Abstract

Low back pain is defined as pain that extends from the edge of the last ribs to the gluteal area. Approximately 90% of people will experience low back pain at some point in their lives, making it the leading cause of work disability worldwide. On the other hand, the biomechanics of the spine can be affected by various activities, leading to improper alignment that causes stress and tension, not only at the bone level but also at the joint, ligament, and muscle levels, causing contractures, muscle shortening in the iliopsoas, pelvic anteversion, and hyperlordosis, which in turn affects lumbar flexibility.

La lumbalgia se define como el dolor que va desde el borde de las últimas costillas hasta la zona glútea, aproximadamente el 90% de las personas cursará con lumbalgia en algún momento de su vida por lo que hoy en día es la mayor causa de discapacidad laboral a nivel mundial. Por otro lado la biomecánica de la columna puede verse afectada al realizar distintas actividades desencadenando de esta forma una alineación equivocada que provoca estrés y tensión no solo a nivel óseo sino que también a nivel articular, ligamentosa y muscular lo que genera contracturas, acortamiento muscular a nivel del psoas psoas iliaco, provocando una anteversión pélvica y ésta una hiperlordosis lumbar alterando a su vez la flexibilidad lumbar.
