Knowledge and practices about handwashing in the nursing staff of the neonatology service of a hospital in the city of Pasco, 2022

Abstract

Introduction: Today, knowledge about hand washing practices is a main factor in the activities carried out by health personnel worldwide in the Department and Neonatology Unit, also reducing neonatal hospital infections, in addition to being the cause of a significant number of perinatal, neonatal and postnatal deaths. Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practices on handwashing in the nursing staff of the Neonatology Service of a hospital in the city of Pasco, 2022. Methods: applied, quantitative, correlational and descriptive study. The census sample will consist of 40 nurses from the Neonatology service of a hospital in the city of Pasco. The questionnaire and the checklist will be used to apply in the target population, they are validated and reliable to measure the variables in question. The collected data will be processed in SPSS 20 and the hypotheses will be tested using the statistical test of Spearman's correlation coefficient given the qualitative nature of the variables.

Introducción: Hoy en día, los conocimientos sobre las prácticas de lavado de manos es un factor principal en las actividades que realiza el personal de salud a nivel mundial en el Departamento y Unidad de Neonatología además reduciendo las infecciones hospitalarias neonatales, además de ser la causa de un número significativo de muertes perinatales, neonatales y posnatales.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y prácticas sobre lavado de manos en el personal de enfermería del Servicio de Neonatología de un hospital de la ciudad de Pasco, 2022. Métodos: estudio de tipo aplicado, cuantitativo, correlacional y descriptivo. La muestra censal estará constituida por 40 enfermeras del servicio de Neonatología de un hospital en la ciudad de Pasco. Se usará el cuestionario y la lista de cotejo para aplicar en la población objetivo, están validados y son confiables para medir las variables en cuestión. Los datos recolectados serán procesados en SPSS 20 y las hipótesis se probarán usando la prueba estadística del coeficiente de correlación de Spearman dado la naturaleza cualitativa de las variables.
