Knowledge and practice of percutaneous catheter management by neonatal intensive care nurses in a national hospital, Lima-2024

Abstract

A high level of knowledge among nursing professionals translates into appropriate practices in the management of percutaneous catheters in Neonatal Intensive Care, which in turn reduces complications and mortality rates in neonates. Given this importance, the main objective of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge and practice in the management of percutaneous catheters by Neonatal Intensive Care nurses in a national hospital in Lima in 2024. Regarding the methodology, the study will follow the hypothetical-deductive method, with a quantitative approach, applied type, and a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and associative design. A census sample of 89 nurses will be used. The data collection technique will involve surveys, utilizing two questionnaires. Subsequently, the Spearman correlation coefficient will be employed to establish the relationship between the two variables.

Un nivel de conocimientos elevado en el profesional enfermero se traduce en una adecuada práctica en el manejo de catéteres percutáneos en Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales, lo cual a su vez permite una disminución en el desarrollo de complicaciones y mortalidad en el neonato. Dada esta relevancia en el presente estudio se tiene como principal objetivo determinar cuál es la relación entre el conocimiento y práctica del manejo de catéter percutáneo por enfermeros de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales en un hospital nacional de Lima en el año 2024. Con relación a la metodología, se seguirá el método hipotético deductivo, el enfoque cuantitativo, el tipo aplicado, y el diseño no experimental transaccional y asociativo; asimismo se trabajará con una muestra censal de 89 enfermeros; se hará uso de la técnica de encuesta y se emplearán dos cuestionarios. Posteriormente, para establecer la relación entre ambas variables se empleará el coeficiente de Spearman.
