Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and quality of life in health workers of a hospital in Lima 2022

Abstract

This research project will focus on determining the prevalence of sleep disorders, specifically the risk of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and quality of life among healthcare workers who work shifts and night hours. It will evaluate the impact of sleep disorders on the quality of life, health, and work performance of healthcare workers. Additionally, it aims to identify the risk factors associated with obstructive sleep apnea in this occupational group, such as age, gender, obesity, and comorbidities. The methodology to be used is the hypothetical-deductive method, a quantitative approach, with a basic type of research and a non-experimental correlational design. The sample will consist of 250 workers from a hospital. Conclusion: Based on the results, it is concluded that the relationship between obstructive sleep apnea and quality of life was determined, and the magnitude of the sleep disorders problem in healthcare workers was understood, with solutions being developed to mitigate the negative effects on the health and safety of this occupational group.

El presente proyecto de investigación será enfocado con el objetivo de determinar la prevalencia de los trastornos del sueño, específicamente el riesgo de síndrome de apnea obstructiva del sueño y la calidad de vida en los trabajadores del sector salud que trabajan por turnos y en horarios nocturnos. Evaluar el impacto de los trastornos del sueño en la calidad de vida, salud y desempeño laboral de los trabajadores de salud. Así mismo la identificación de los factores de riesgo asociados a la apnea obstructiva del sueño en este grupo ocupacional, como la edad, genero, obesidad y la comorbilidad. La Metodología a utilizar es el método hipotético deductivo, el enfoque cuantitativo, el tipo será básico, diseño será no experimental correlacional, la muestra corresponde: 250 trabajadores de un hospital. Conclusión: según los resultados obtenidos se concluye al finalizar este trabajo se logró determinar la relación entre la apnea obstructiva dl sueño y la calidad de vida y comprender la magnitud del problema de los trastornos del sueño en trabajadores de salud y desarrollar soluciones para mitigar sus efector negativos en la salud y seguridad de este grupo ocupacional.
