Functional capacity and parental stress of children with children’s cerebral palsy in a private center in Arequipa

Abstract

The functional capacity of each child with cerebral palsy, such as assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, eating, and mobility, depends on the type of cerebral palsy and will present a level of stress in parents or caregivers. This stress will affect the family environment on emotional, economic, social, and other levels, causing family strain. Therefore, the aim is to determine the relationship between functional capacity and parental stress.

Según la capacidad funcional de cada niño con parálisis cerebral infantil como ayudar en su aseo, vestido, alimentación, traslados, dependiendo del tipo de parálisis cerebral se va a presentar un nivel de estrés en los padres o cuidadores, este nivel de estrés va a afectar en el ambiente familiar a nivel emocional, económico, social, etc. produciendo un desgaste en la familia. Por lo tanto, se desear determinar la relación entre capacidad funcional y estrés parental.
