Knowledge about metabolic neonatal screening and attitude in postpartum mothers in a maternal and child center in Lima, 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Metabolic neonatal screening identifies conditions that may affect the health or survival of the child, where early detection, diagnosis and intervention can prevent death or disability, and allow them to reach their full potential. Objective: Determine how knowledge is related to attitude regarding metabolic neonatal screening in postpartum mothers in a Maternal and Child Center in Lima, 2023. Methods: Applied, quantitative, non-experimental and descriptive correlational study. The census sample of the study will consist of 90 postpartum mothers of newborns. The survey will be used to apply two questionnaires adapted by Álvarez on knowledge, and Condori and Achata on attitudes for the target population, they are validated and reliable to measure the variables in question. The collected data will be processed by applying the SPSS version 26.0 program and the hypothesis tests will be tested using the Spearman correlation coefficient (Rho) statistical test.

El tamizaje neonatal metabólico identifica las condiciones que pueden afectar la salud o supervivencia del niño, donde la detección, diagnóstico e intervención temprana pueden prevenir la muerte o discapacidad, y permitir que alcancen su máximo potencial. Objetivo: Determinar cómo el conocimiento se relaciona con la actitud sobre el tamizaje neonatal metabólico en madres puérperas en un Centro Materno Infantil de Lima, 2023. Métodos: Estudio de tipo aplicado, cuantitativo, no experimental y descriptivo correlacional.
