Level of knowledge of nursing staff about cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of medical devices in the sterilization center of a level III hospital in Lima, October to December 2020

Abstract

Objective: Identify the level of knowledge of the nursing staff about the cleaning, disinfection and sterilization process of medical devices of the staff in the Sterilization Center of a hospital in Lima. Materials and methods. Quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study will allow data to be presented identifying time and space of the study. Study population 15 nurses and 15 technicians from the sterilization center of a hospital in Lima. Considering the sample size, no sample or sampling applies. Inclusion criteria: personnel who work in the sterilization center, with a minimum stay of 6 months in the service and accept their participation in the study. Exclusion criteria: Persons who have received training in the last month and who refuse to participate in the study. Technique used will be a survey through a questionnaire taken from the work carried out by Bueno R. in the city of Lima in 2013; “Knowledge about cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of medical devices” (16), is made up of 15 items that have been validated and applied in Peru. The data is presented using graphs for the analysis and interpretation of data in accordance with and adjusted to the theoretical framework.

Objetivo: Identificar el nivel de conocimiento del personal de enfermería sobre proceso de limpieza, desinfección y esterilización de dispositivos médicos del personal en la Central de Esterilización de un hospital de Lima. Materiales y métodos. Estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo, de corte transversal, permitirá presentar datos identificando tiempo y espacio del estudio. Población de estudio 15 enfermeras y 15 técnicas de central de esterilización de hospital de Lima. Considerando el tamaño de muestra, no aplica muestra ni muestreo. Criterios de inclusión: personal que desempeña labores en la central de esterilización, con un tiempo de permanencia de 6 meses como mínimo en el servicio y acepte su participación en el estudio. Criterios de exclusión personal que haya recibido capacitación en el último mes y que se niegue a participar en el estudio. Técnica utilizada será encuesta a través de cuestionario tomado del trabajo realizado por Bueno R. en la ciudad de Lima del 2013; “Conocimiento sobre limpieza, desinfección y esterilización de dispositivos médicos” (16), está conformado por 15 ítems que han sido validados y aplicados en Perú. Los datos se presentan mediante gráficos para el análisis e interpretación de datos de acuerdo y ajustado al marco teórico.
