Level of knowledge and attitude of nurses towards pain management in an emergency, in a hospital in North Lima, Lima - Peru 2023

Abstract

Pain behaves like a silent epidemic and has destructive consequences because it causes severe functional deterioration in various human and social dimensions; Research indicates that there is poor knowledge and a very negative attitude on the part of nurses regarding the assessment and management of pain. Objective of this thesis study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitude of nurses towards emergency pain management, in a hospital in North Lima, Lima - Peru 2023. Methodology was quantitative, hypothetical - deductive, applied, non-experimental, correlational and cross-sectional type. The population was 85 nurses, to whom two validated questionnaire instruments were applied. To measure the level of knowledge, a questionnaire of 18 questions was used and to measure the attitude of the nurses, a questionnaire of 20 questions was used. The validation results with the Binomial test of the instrument to measure the level of knowledge show a degree of agreement of 0.0039. The results of the validity test with the "distance of multiple points" of the instrument to measure the attitude of nurses show a DPP = 2.77. The reliability of the instrument to measure the level of knowledge is KR20 = 0.8835 and the reliability of the instrument to measure the attitude of nurses is Cronbach's Alpha = 0.6518. These values show that the instruments used in this study are highly reliable for their application.

Determina la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y actitud de los enfermeros hacia el manejo del dolor en emergencia, en un hospital de Lima Norte, Lima – Perú 2023. La investigación será cuantitativo, hipotético - deductivo, tipo aplicada, no experimental, correlacional y transversal. La población estará conformada por 85 enfermeros, quienes responderán los dos instrumentos ya validados, para medir el nivel de conocimiento se empleará un cuestionario de 18 preguntas y para medir la actitud de los enfermeros se aplicará un cuestionario de 20 preguntas. Los resultados de validez con la prueba Binomial del instrumento para medir el nivel de conocimiento muestran un grado de concordancia de 0,0039. Los resultados de la prueba de valides con “la distancia de puntos múltiples” del instrumento para medir la actitud de los enfermeros muestran un DPP = 2,77. La confiabilidad del instrumento para medir el nivel de conocimiento es un KR20 = 0.8835 y la confiabilidad del instrumento para medir la actitud de los enfermeros es un Alfa de Cronbach = 0.6518. Estos valores demuestran que los instrumentos utilizados en el presente estudio son altamente confiables.
