Knowledge and practice of breastfeeding in first-time mothers of children under 6 months of age from a health center, Lima 2023

Abstract

Information and health promotion about breastfeeding (BF), its benefits and how to breastfeed the baby correctly, undoubtedly improves knowledge and weakens the abandonment of breastfeeding. Objective: To determine how knowledge is related to the practice of breastfeeding in new mothers of children under 6 months of age in a health center, Lima 2023. Methodology: The research will be quantitative and will use the hypothetical-deductive method, the type of research will be applied, non-experimental design, cross-sectional and correlational. Regarding the population, there will be 90 new mothers, the technique to be used will be the survey and observation, and the instruments will be the questionnaire and the observation form. The instruments were previously validated and reliable, the questionnaire that will measure knowledge about breastfeeding, with a Crombach's alpha reliability coefficient of 0.8, for the observation guide instrument on breastfeeding practices, Kuder Richardson reliability with 0.720 in its consistency. The results will be tabulated to elaborate the necessary statistics and will be interpreted by means of tables and graphs. Finally, the degree of relationship between both variables will be evaluated by means of Spearman's coefficient, which will provide an answer to the stated objective.

Indudablemente el conocimiento en LM mejora y debilita el abandono. Objetivo: Determinar cómo el conocimiento se relaciona con la práctica de la lactancia materna en madres primerizas de niños menores de 6 meses de un centro de salud, Lima 2023. Metodología: La investigación será cuantitativa y empleará el método hipotético deductivo, el tipo de investigación será aplicada, de diseño no experimental, el corte será transversal y el nivel correlacional. La unidad de análisis serán 90 madres primerizas, la técnica a utilizar será la encuesta y la observación, los instrumentos que se emplearán el cuestionario y ficha de observación. Instrumentos validados y confiables, el cuestionario que medirá el conocimiento sobre lactancia materna, con un coeficiente de confiabilidad alfa de Crombach de 0.8, para el instrumento guía de observación sobre prácticas de lactancia materna, confiablidad de Kuder Richardson con 0.720 en su consistencia. Los resultados se tabularán para elaborar las estadísticas necesarias y se interpretarán mediante tablas y gráficos. Finalmente, se evaluará el grado de relación entre ambas variables mediante el coeficiente de Spearman, que dará respuesta al objetivo planteado.
