Effectiveness of a nursing intervention plan to reduce anxiety in pre-surgical total abdominal hysterectomy patients at the National Maternal and Perinatal Institute, Lima 2020

Abstract

Aim. Determine the effectiveness of the nursing intervention plan to reduce anxiety in pre-surgical patients with total abdominal hysterectomy at the National Maternal Perinatal Institute. Materials and methods. The approach of this research corresponds to the quantitative one, and the design to be used will be the quasi-experimental pretest and posttest design with a single group. The population will be made up of 80 pre-surgical patients who are about to undergo total abdominal hysterectomy in the gynecology service of the National Maternal Perinatal Institute, located in Cercado Lima, and the sample will consist of 50 patients from the aforementioned Institute. The sampling will be non-probabilistic of an intentional type. The technique will consist of the survey, with the application of the Zung Anxiety Assessment Scale (EAA). This test includes 20 statements that quantify 15 somatic and 5 cognitive symptoms, each referring to manifestations and characteristics of anxiety, such as symptoms or signs. Regarding the concurrent validity of the instrument, the correlation values ​​obtained indicate significance between the EAA and the Beck depression inventory. Regarding reliability, the correlation coefficients between the EAA and the ASI (Anxiety Sensitivity Index) show a correlation equivalent to 0.66.

Objetivo. Determinar la efectividad del plan de intervención de enfermería para reducir la ansiedad en pacientes prequirúrgicas de histerectomía abdominal total en el Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal. Materiales y métodos. El enfoque de la presente investigación corresponde al cuantitativo, y el diseño a emplearse será el cuasiexperimental de pretest y postest con un solo grupo. La población estará conformada por 80 pacientes prequirúrgicas que están por ser intervenidas de histerectomía abdominal total en el servicio de ginecología del Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal, ubicado en Cercado Lima, y la muestra constará de 50 pacientes del mencionado Instituto. El muestreo será el no probabilístico de tipo intencionado. La técnica consistirá en la encuesta, con la aplicación de la Escala de Evaluación de Ansiedad de Zung (EAA). Esta prueba comprende 20 afirmaciones que cuantifican 15 síntomas somáticos y 5 cognoscitivos, cada una referida a manifestaciones y características de ansiedad, como síntomas o signos. Respecto a la validez concurrente del instrumento, los valores de correlación obtenidos indican significatividad entre la EAA y el inventario de depresión de Beck. Concerniente a la fiabilidad, los coeficientes de correlación entre la EAA y el ASI (Índice de Sensibilidad a la Ansiedad) arrojan una correlación equivalente a 0.66.
