Reactions to academic stress and their relationship with performance, among nursing students in the third and fourth cycles at Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener

Abstract

Objective: To determine the relationship between academic stress reactions and academic performance among nursing students at the Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener. Type and Level: Quantitative, non-experimental nature, with a cross-sectional relational design. Population: Composed of 122 students enrolled in the 3rd and 4th academic cycles of the Nursing Academic Program at the Universidad Norbert Wiener during the 2013 I academic year. Results: 82.8% of nursing students have average academic performance, while the remaining 17.2% have high academic performance; 15.8% with average performance show a low reaction to academic stress, 57.4% show a moderate reaction to academic stress, and 26.7% show a high reaction. Conclusions: There is a highly significant relationship between academic performance and academic stress reactions among the 3rd and 4th cycle students of the Nursing Academic Program at Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener (p=0.000).

Objetivo. Determinar la relación entre las reacciones frente al estrés académico y el rendimiento, en los estudiantes de enfermería de la Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener. Tipo y nivel. Cuantitativo de naturaleza no experimental, con diseño relacional de corte transversal. Población conformado por 122 estudiantes matriculados en el 3° y 4° ciclo de la E. A. P. de Enfermería de la Universidad Norbert Wiener en el año académico 2013 I. Resultados. El 82,8% de los estudiantes de enfermería tienen un rendimiento académico medio el resto un rendimiento académico alto (17,2%); 15.8% tiene un rendimiento académico medio manifiestan una baja reacción, el 57,4% manifiestan una moderada reacción frente al estrés académico y el 26,7% manifiesta una alta reacción. Conclusiones. Existe relación altamente significativa entre el rendimiento académico y las reacciones frente al estrés académico de los estudiantes del 3° y 4° ciclo de la Escuela Académico Profesional de Enfermería de la Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener (p= 0,000)
