Efficacy of total abdominal hysterectomy versus total laparoscopic hysterectomy in patients with cervical cancer and uterine fibroids.

Abstract

The study was quantitative, with a systematic review design. Data collection was done through a literature review of national and international research articles that aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of total abdominal hysterectomy versus laparoscopic hysterectomy in patients with cervical cancer and uterine fibroids. Twenty scientific articles were reviewed, with a sample of 10 articles published in scientific databases in Spanish and English, no older than ten years. The selected articles were evaluated using the GRADE method, which allowed for the assessment of the quality of evidence and grading the strength of recommendations in the context of clinical practice guidelines development and systematic reviews. Ten scientific articles were reviewed, of which 30% were retrospective, 20% were quasi-experimental, 20% experimental, 20% systematic review, 10% prospective, and 10% observational. Ninety percent of the reviewed articles concluded that total laparoscopic hysterectomy is more effective than total abdominal hysterectomy. In the systematic review of the 10 scientific articles, it was concluded that 90% of them found that total laparoscopic hysterectomy is more effective than total abdominal hysterectomy in patients with cervical cancer and uterine fibroids.

Se realizó un estudio tipo cuantitativo, el diseño fue revisión sistemática, la recolección de datos se hizo a través de revisión bibliográfica de artículos de investigación nacionales e internacionales que tuvieron como objetivo principal evaluar la eficacia de la histerectomía abdominal total versus histerectomía laparoscópica en pacientes con cáncer de cuello uterino y miomatosis uterina. Se revisaron 20 artículos científicos, teniendo como muestra 10 artículos publicados en bases de datos científicas en idioma español e inglés, con antigüedad no mayor de diez años. Los artículos seleccionados se sometieron a evaluación por método GRADE el cual permitió evaluar la calidad de evidencia y graduar la fuerza de las recomendaciones en contexto de desarrollo de guías de práctica clínica, revisiones sistemáticas. Se revisaron 10 artículos científicos de los cuales el 30% fueron retrospectivos, 20% cuasi-experimentales, 20% experimental, 20% revisión sistemática, 10% prospectivo y 10% observacional. El 90% de artículos revisados concluyo que la histerectomía laparoscópica total es más eficaz que la histerectomía abdominal total. En la revisión sistemática de los 10 artículos científicos, se concluye que el 90% de los mismos la histerectomía laparoscópica total es más eficaz que la histerectomía abdominal en pacientes con cáncer de cuello uterino y miomatosis uterina.
