Level of knowledge about tuberculosis preventive measures and practice in the relatives of patients with tuberculosis at the Health Center October 3, 2023

Abstract

The present research was developed with the objective of "determining the relationship between the level of knowledge and the practice of preventive measures in relatives of patients with tuberculosis". Methodology: A quantitative approach was applied, applied research type, non-experimental design, transactional cut, with a sample composed of 104 relatives of patients with tuberculosis, with a stratified random sampling, the technique used was the survey and the instrument was the questionnaire Test of knowledge of preventive measures of pulmonary tuberculosis and the questionnaire Attitude Scale for Preventive Measures of pulmonary Tuberculosis. In the results it was observed that 35.58% presented a regular level of knowledge about preventive measures. But there is a significant percentage that still has a limited knowledge of the practices, 35.58% of the people were found to have regular preventive practices. In conclusion, a positive and significant correlation was found between the level of knowledge with a correlation coefficient of 0.882** (p<0.000), so the alternate hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

La presente investigación se desarrolló con el objetivo de “determinar la relación del nivel de conocimiento y la práctica de medidas preventivas en familiares de pacientes con tuberculosis”. Metodología: Se aplicó un enfoque cuantitativo, tipo de investigación aplicada, diseño no experimental, de corte transeccional, con una muestra compuesta por 104 familiares de pacientes con tuberculosis, con un muestreo aleatorio estratificado, la técnica utilizada fue la encuesta y el instrumento el cuestionario Test of knowledge of preventive measures of pulmonary tuberculosis y el cuestionario Attitude Scale For preventive Measures of pulmonary Tuberculosis. En los resultados se observó que el 35.58% presentó un nivel regular de conocimiento sobre medidas preventivas. Pero hay un porcentaje significativo que todavía tiene un conocimiento limitado en cuanto a las prácticas se halló un 35.58% de las personas que tenía prácticas preventivas de manera regular. En conclusión, se halló una correlación positiva y significativa entre el nivel de conocimiento con un coeficiente de correlación de 0.882** (p<0.000), por lo que se acepta la hipótesis alterna (Ha).
