Knowledge about the prevention of pressure injuries in older adults and practices of the nursing professional in the geriatric service of the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen National Hospital, Lima – 2023

Abstract

Pressure ulcer (PU) is a lesion of ischemic origin, located in the skin and underlying tissues with loss of skin substance caused by prolonged pressure or friction between two hard planes. The PU represents a health problem that affects older adults. Due to its etiology, it can be prevented through specific care. The objective is "To determine the relationship between the knowledge and practice of the nursing professional in the prevention of pressure ulcers in elderly patients in the geriatric service of the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen Lima National Hospital - 2022". The type of study is Descriptive, non-experimental observational and correlational descriptive. The sample is made up of 25 nursing professionals from the geriatric hospitalization service. A survey was applied through a questionnaire for both variables. Validated and reliable instruments were used. The data will be registered, classified, tabulated and codified as appropriate through the use of Excel 2013 computer systems and analyzed through SPSS 25, where tables, charts, graphs will be obtained. Likewise, the relationship between the variables and the hypothesis test will be carried out with the Spearman's Rho test, being a non-parametric analysis, which will serve to verify the hypotheses raised, and will later be analyzed and interpreted.

La lesión por presión (LPP) es una lesión de origen isquémico, localizada en la piel y tejidos subyacentes con pérdida de sustancia cutánea producida por presión prolongada o fricción entre dos planos duros. La LPP representa un problema de salud que afecta a las personas adultas mayores. Por su etiología se puede prevenir mediante cuidados específicos. El objetivo es determinar la relación entre el conocimiento sobre la prevención de lesiones por presión en adultos mayor y prácticas del profesional de enfermería en el servicio de geriatría del hospital nacional Guillermo almenara Irigoyen Lima – 2023. El tipo de estudio es Descriptivo, observacional no experimental y descriptivo correlacional. La muestra está constituida por 25 profesionales de enfermería, del servicio de hospitalización de geriatría servicio de geriatría. Se aplicaron encuesta mediante un cuestionario para ambos variables. Se emplearon instrumentos validados y confiables. Los datos serán registrados, clasificados, tabulados y codificados según corresponda mediante el empleo de sistemas informáticos de Excel 2013 y analizados mediante SPSS 25, donde se obtendrá las tablas, cuadros, gráficos. Asimismo, la relación entre las variables y la prueba de hipótesis se realizará con la prueba de Rho de Spearman, siendo un análisis no paramétrico, que servirá para comprobar las hipótesis planteadas, posteriormente será analizada e interpretada.
