Comparative study of two adhesive systems on the post operative sensitivity of restorations with composite resin in the posterior sector

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the differences in the effectiveness of two adhesive systems on postoperative sensitivity of composite resin restorations in the posterior sector. A quasi-experimental, quantitative, and longitudinal methodology was used, with a sample of 60 patients requiring simple Class I restorations according to the Black classification. The results revealed that the effectiveness of postoperative sensitivity of restorations, according to the EVA scale, in the 4th generation system showed a sensitivity mean of 0.03 at 24 hours, increasing to 0.08 after one week, and decreasing to a mean of 0.0 after one month. In contrast, the universal system showed a sensitivity mean of 0.17 at 24 hours, increasing to 0.53 after one week, and slightly decreasing to a mean of 0.47 after one month. However, the statistical analysis showed that the p-value was 0.02, which is lower than the alpha value, thus rejecting the null hypothesis (Ho). With a 95% confidence level, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the effectiveness of the two adhesive systems on postoperative sensitivity of composite resin restorations in the posterior sector.

El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar determinar las diferencias de la efectividad de dos sistemas adhesivos en la sensibilidad post operatoria de restauraciones con resina compuesta en el sector posterior. Se utilizó una metodología cuasiexperimental, cuantitativa y longitudinal, con una muestra de 60 pacientes con necesidad de restauraciones simples de Clase I según la clasificación de Black. Los resultados revelaron que la efectividad en la sensibilidad post operatoria de restauraciones según la escala de EVA en el sistema de 4ta generación a las 24 horas existe una media de sensibilidad de 0,03, a la semana aumento a 0,08 y al mes bajo esta sensibilidad teniendo una media de 0.0; frente a lo observado en el sistema universal donde a las 24 horas la media de sensibilidad fue de 0.17, a la semana aumento a 0.53 y al mes bajo un poco llegando a presentarse en una media de 0.47. Sin embargo, el análisis estadístico demostró que el valor p encontrado fue de 0,02, siendo menor al valor alfa, por ello se rechaza la hipótesis nula (Ho) y a un nivel de confianza de 95% se puede concluir que Existe diferencia significativa de la efectividad de dos sistemas adhesivos en la sensibilidad post operatoria de restauraciones post operatoria con resina compuesta en el sector posterior.
