Effect of the mirror therapy on the spastic hand of post stroke patients in a National Hospital, Moquegua 2023

Abstract

The objective of the study was to determine the effect of mirror therapy on the spastic hand of post-stroke patients. The study was hypothetical-deductive, with a quantitative approach, applied in nature, and experimental design with a pre-experimental sub-design. The study population consisted of all post-stroke patients in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of a National Hospital in Moquegua from March 2022 to March 2023, with a sample size of 80 patients. The ARAT test was used as an instrument to evaluate the dependent variable, which was validated through expert judgment along with a data collection form created by the author. A pilot test was conducted with 20 patients, obtaining a Cronbach alpha of 0.86, confirming reliability. This instrument can be used in future research by health professionals.

El objetivo del trabajo fue determinar el efecto de la terapia espejo en la mano espástica de pacientes post accidente cerebrovascular. El estudio fue del tipo hipotético- deductivo, con un enfoque cuantitativo, según el tipo fue aplicada y con diseño experimental con sub-diseño pre-experimental. La población para este estudio fue representado por todos los pacientes post accidente cerebrovascular en un Hospital Nacional de Moquegua del área de Medicina Física y Rehabilitación dentro del periodo comprendido de marzo del 2022 a marzo del 2023, con una muestra de 80 pacientes. Se utilizó como instrumento el test de ARAT para evaluar la variable dependiente, el cual fue validado por juicio de expertos junto a una ficha de recolección de datos elaborada por el autor. Para que este sea confiable se realizó una prueba piloto con 20 pacientes obteniendo un alfa de Cronbach de 0,86 la cual confirmaría la confiabilidad, este instrumento puede ser utilizado en futuras investigaciones por profesionales del área de la salud.
