Level of gross motor function and its relationship with eating ability in children with cerebral palsy from 4 to 12 years of age at the National Institute of Child Health - San Borja 2022

Abstract

Cerebral Palsy (CP) is one of the most frequent causes of disability. CP is a group of disorders that affect movement and posture due to an injury in the immature brain. Objective: To determine the relationship between gross motor function level and feeding ability in children with cerebral palsy aged 4 to 12 years at the National Institute of Child Health in San Borja in 2022. Materials and Methods: This is an applied, correlational research with a quantitative approach and non-experimental, cross-sectional design. Children with CP from the Physical Medicine service of INSN-SB will be evaluated, measuring the variables of motor function level and feeding ability using the GMFCS (Gross Motor Function Classification System) and EDACS (Eating and Drinking Ability Classification System) questionnaires, respectively.

La parálisis cerebral (PC) es una de las causas más frecuentes de discapacidad. La PC es el conjunto de desórdenes en la capacidad de moverse y optar una adecuada postura, debido a una lesión en el cerebro no maduro. Objetivo: Determinar la relación del nivel de la función motora gruesa y la habilidad de alimentación en los menores con parálisis cerebral de 4 a 12 años en el Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño – San Borja 2022. Materiales y métodos: la presente investigación es de tipo aplicada – correlacional, de enfoque cuantitativo, diseño no experimental-transversal. Se evaluará a menores con PC del servicio de Medicina Física del INSN-SB y se medirá las variables de nivel funcional motora y habilidad de alimentación por medio de los cuestionarios de GMFCS - Gross Motor Function Classification System y EDACS - Eating and Drinking Ability Clasification System, respectivamente.
