Neonatal pain and stress in premature infants hospitalized in the neonatology service of the Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal Lima 2022

Abstract

In recent years, the population of Preterm Neonates has increased, with those surviving with adequate quality of life due to advances in technology, fetal and neonatal medicine, and specialized management of neonates. Premature newborns have immaturity of organs, devices and systems, so their adaptive power is inadequate; the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit facilities do not provide them with adequate extrauterine stimulation, subjecting them to stressful environments. The research arises from the interest in knowing the relationship that may exist between pain and neonatal stress in premature babies hospitalized in the Neonatology Unit of the National Maternal Perinatal Institute - Lima 2022, the objective is to determine what the relationship is between pain and neonatal stress in premature babies. hospitalized in the neonatology service. The research approach will be quantitative, the type of applied research, with a cross-sectional correlational non-experimental design. The study population will be 540 neonates hospitalized in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). For data collection, the survey will be used as a technique and as an instrument the pain measurement scale called “Pain Profile in Premature Infants (PIPP), and a Checklist of Indicators and Signs of Stress in the Premature Neonate. Descriptive statistics will be applied, to show the results I will use relative frequency tables revealing the categories reached in each variable, to validate the hypothesis the Spearman correlation coefficient will be used.

En los últimos años la población de Neonatos de Pretérmino se ha incrementado los mismos que sobreviven con adecuada calidad de vida, por los avances de la tecnología, de medicina fetal y neonatal y el manejo especializado de neonatos. Los recién nacidos prematuros tienen inmadurez de órganos, aparatos y sistemas, por lo que su poder de adaptación es inadecuado, las instalaciones de las Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales no les proporcionan estimulación extrauterina adecuada, sometiéndolos a ambientes estresantes. La investigación nace del interés por conocer la relación que puede existir dolor y estrés neonatal en prematuros hospitalizados en la Unidad de Neonatología del Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal - Lima 2022, el objetivo es determinar cuál es la relación entre el dolor y el estrés neonatal en prematuros hospitalizados en el servicio de neonatología. El enfoque de investigación será cuantitativo, el tipo de investigación aplicada, de diseño no experimental transversal correlacional. La población de estudio será 540 neonatos hospitalizados en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales (UCIN). Para la recolección de datos se utilizará la encuesta como técnica y como instrumento la escala de Medición de dolor denominado “Perfil del Dolor en Infantes Prematuros (PIPP), y una lista de Cotejo de Indicadores y Signos de Estrés en el Neonato Prematuro. Se aplicará estadística descriptiva, para mostrar los resultados emplearé tablas de frecuencias relativas dando a conocer las categorías alcanzadas en cada variable, para la validar la hipótesis se hará uso del coeficiente de correlación de spearman.
