Lifestyle in type II diabetes mellitus patients from the outpatient clinics of the San Juan de Lurigancho Hospital, 2018

Abstract

The focus of the study was quantitative, cross-sectional descriptive design. The sample was made up of 142 users based on pre-established inclusion and exclusion criteria, to whom the instrument was applied: questionnaire to measure lifestyle in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. Of the 142 users, it was observed that 99.3% presented an unhealthy lifestyle in the nutritional habits dimension, with respect to physical activity, 76.1% presented an unhealthy lifestyle, in terms of harmful habits, 89.4% presented an unhealthy lifestyle. unhealthy lifestyle, in the evaluation of information on diabetes, 88% presented an unhealthy lifestyle, regarding the emotional state, 69.7% presented an unhealthy lifestyle and therefore Lastly, in therapeutic adherence, 58.5% had an unhealthy lifestyle, 76.8% of users with type II diabetes mellitus had an unhealthy lifestyle and the remaining 23.2% had a healthy lifestyle. Conclusion: Patients with type II Diabetes considered in the present study generally practiced healthy lifestyles.

El enfoque del estudio fue de tipo cuantitativo, diseño descriptivo de corte transversal. La muestra estuvo conformada por 142 usuarios en base a criterios de inclusión y exclusión preestablecidos, a quienes se le aplico el instrumento: cuestionario para medir el estilo de vida en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo II. De los 142 usuarios se observó que el 99.3% presentó estilo de vida no saludable en la dimensión hábitos nutricionales, respecto a la actividad física, un 76.1% presentó estilo de vida no saludable, en cuanto a los hábitos nocivos, un 89.4% presentó estilo de vida no saludable, en la evaluación sobre la información sobre diabetes, un 88% presentó un estilo de vida no saludable, respecto al estado emocional, un 69.7% presentó un estilo de vida no saludable y por último, en la adherencia terapéutica un 58.5% presentó un estilo de vida no saludable, el 76.8% de los usuarios con diabetes mellitus tipo II presentaron un estilo de vida no saludable y el 23.2% restante un estilo de vida saludable. Conclusión: Los pacientes con Diabetes tipo II considerados en el presente estudio tuvieron en general prácticas de estilos de vida saludables.
