Knowledge about the prevention of cervical cancer and the practices of users who attend Hospital II Huariaca, EsSalud Pasco, 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Cervical cancer causes high mortality in women on different continents, Peru is no exception, ranking third in South America. According to the reports mentioned in the INEI, 2022 the population of Pasco is one of the departments that are most unaware or know very little about the cause of cervical cancer. Objective: To determine how the level of knowledge about the prevention of cervical cancer is related to the practices of the users who attend Hospital II Huariaca, EsSalud Pasco 2023. Method: The study is part of the quantitative approach, hypothetical-deductive method and it has a non-experimental design, correlational level of transectional cut. The population consists of 80 people who attend the gynecology and oncology clinic at Hospital II Huariaca. Two questionnaires will be used, one to measure the level of knowledge and consists of 11 items, with validation through a binomial test with a result equal to 1, interpreted as excellent validation and a Cronbach's alpha reliability of 0.835, final value: high, medium and low; another to quantify prevention practices and is made up of 12 items, with identical validity to the first questionnaire and a coefficient of 0.750 for its reliability.

Introducción: El cáncer cérvico uterino origina una alta mortalidad en las mujeres en diferentes continentes, el Perú no es la excepción ocupando el tercer lugar en Sudamérica. Según los reportes mencionados en el INEI, 2022 la población de Pasco es uno de los departamentos que más desconocen o saben muy poco sobre la causa del cáncer del cuello uterino. Objetivo: Determinar cómo el nivel de conocimiento sobre la prevención del cáncer de cuello uterino se relaciona con las prácticas de las usuarias que asisten al Hospital II Huariaca, EsSalud Pasco 2023. Método: El estudio se enmarca en el enfoque cuantitativo, método hipotético-deductivo y tiene un diseño no experimental, nivel correlacional de corte transeccional. La población será de 80 personas que asisten al consultorio de ginecología y oncología en el Hospital II Huariaca. Se utilizarán dos cuestionarios, uno para medir el nivel de conocimiento el cual consta de 26 ítems, con validación a un 83%, interpretándose como excelente validación y una confiabilidad de alfa de Cronbach de 0.968, valor final: alto, medio y bajo; otro para cuantificar las prácticas de prevención y se compone de 14 ítems, con validez idéntica al primer cuestionario y un coeficiente de 0.890 para su confiabilidad
