Coping strategies and work stress of the nursing professional in the intensive care unit of the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital, Lima 2022.

Abstract

Introduction: Work stress is defined as any discomfort perceived by the individual that is stimulated by activities perceived as too intense and frequent, which exceed a person's coping capabilities and management resources; Therefore, successful management or minimization of stress at work depends on the individual's ability to identify and adapt using coping strategies. Objective: To determine the relationship between coping strategies and work stress of nursing professionals in the Intensive Care Unit of the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital, Lima 2022. Methodology: The research method will be hypothetical-deductive, quantitative approach, basic type and correlational design; the population will be 90 nursing professionals and the sample of 72 nurses. The information will be collected using two validated forms, to measure the first variable about the coping strategies, the Coping Estimation Questionnaire of Carver, Scheier & Weintraub (United States, 1989) will be used, with a significant reliability level of 0.77 by Cronbach's Alpha and for the variable of work stress, the Nursing Stress Scale - NSS by Pamela Gray-Toft and James G. Anderson (United States, 1999) will be used, being the confidentiality of Cronbach's Alpha giving a result of 0.76. The statistical analysis will be carried out using the SPSS program, and to contrast the hypotheses, the Spearman Correlational Test (Rho) will be used.

Introducción: El estrés laboral se define como cualquier malestar percibido por el individuo que es estimulado por las actividades percibidas como demasiado intensas y frecuentes, las que exceden las capacidades de afrontamiento y los recursos de gestión de una persona; es por ello, que el manejo exitoso o la minimización del estrés en el trabajo depende de la capacidad del individuo para identificar y adaptarse utilizando estrategias de afrontamiento. Objetivo: Determinar la relación que existe entre las estrategias de afrontamiento y el estrés laboral del Enfermería en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos del Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza, Lima 2022. Metodología: El método de la investigación será hipotético-deductivo, enfoque cuantitativo, tipo básica y diseño correlacional; la población será de 90 Enfermería y la muestra de 72 enfermeros(as). la recogida de la información utilizará dos formularios validados, para medir la primera variable acerca de las estrategias de afrontamiento se utilizará el Cuestionario de Estimación de Afrontamiento de COPE de Carver, Scheier & Weintraub (Estados Unidos, 1989), con un nivel de fiabilidad significativa 0,77 por Alfa de Cronbach y para la variable de estrés laboral se usará la Escala de Estrés de Enfermería – NSS de Pamela Gray-Toft y James G. Anderson (Estados Unidos, 1999), siendo la confidencialidad de Alfa de Cronbach arrojando un resultado de 0.76. Los análisis estadísticos se realizarán por medio del programa SPSS, y para la contrastación de las hipótesis se empleará la Prueba de Correlacional de Spearman (Rho).
