Sociodemographic and gynae-obstetric characteristics of the users of the subdermal contraceptive implantation who attend the family planning service of the Hipólito Unanue National Hospital, from January 1 to June 30, Lima; 2017

Abstract

This was a descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional study reviewing 49 clinical records of users of the subdermal contraceptive implant who attended the family planning service. The average age was 25.57 years, with 34.72% aged 26 to 30 years. 57.14% were cohabiting, 67.35% had completed secondary education, and 44.90% lived in the El Agustino district. 75.51% reported starting menstruation between the ages of 12 and 14, and 81.63% began sexual activity between the ages of 15 and 20. Additionally, 67.35% had more than one sexual partner, 81.64% had one to three children, and 61.22% had no history of abortion. At least one cesarean section was reported by 24.48%, while 67.35% were at high reproductive risk. Furthermore, 67.35% had a normal BMI. Before using the implant, 83.67% of the women had used a contraceptive method, with male condoms being the most preferred (32.65%). 42.86% were in their second year of use. 59.18% reported experiencing side effects, with menstrual irregularities being the most common (28.57%), and 59.18% of the users received treatment for their complaints.

Estudio de tipo descriptivo, retrospectivo, de corte transversal, en el cual se revisaron 49 historias clínicas de usuarias del implante anticonceptivo subdérmico que acudieron al servicio de planificación familiar. La edad promedio fue 25.57 años, 34.72% entre los 26 a 30 años, el 57.14% eran convivientes, el 67.35% estudiaron hasta la secundaria y el 44.90% vivía en el distrito de El Agustino; el 75.51% refiere haber iniciado su menstruación entre 12 a 14 años de edad, la edad de inicio de relaciones sexuales que mayor predomina es de 15-20 años de edad (81.63%), el 67.35% ha tenido más de una pareja sexual; el 81.64% tiene entre uno a 3 hijos, el 61.22% no tuvo ningún aborto, el 24.48% tenía al menos una cesárea, el 67.35% tenían alto riesgo reproductivo, el 67.35% tenía un IMC normal; el 83.67% utilizaba algún método anticonceptivo previo al uso del implante, el anticonceptivo anterior de preferencia fue el preservativo masculino (32.65%), el 42.86% cursaba el segundo año de uso, el 59.18% refirió que presentó algún efecto secundario, las alteraciones menstruales fue el efecto secundario que predominó con un 28.57% y el 59.18% de usuarias había recibido tratamiento a su molestia.
