Impact of postpartum depressive state in mothers on the nutritional status of their infants

Abstract

Objective: to systematize the evidence on the impact of the mother's postpartum depressive state on the nutritional status of the infant. Material and methods: quantitative observational and retrospective systematic review, subjected to critical selection, using the grade evaluation system to identify the level of evidence, found in the following databases: pubmed, sciencedirect, scielo, wiley online library, elsevier, epistemonikos. The data obtained through the review of published articles specifically related to the topic of postpartum depression and the alteration of the nutritional status of the infant is described. Of the 10 articles reviewed, 20% (n =2/10) are systematic reviews, 20% (n = 2/10) are cases and controls, 20% (n = 2/10) are quasi-experimental, 30 % (n = 3/10) is cohort and 10% (n = 1/10) is analytical cross-sectional. Results: of the 10 articles found, 100% indicate that there is significant evidence of the postpartum depressive state that causes the alteration of the nutritional status of the child, considering that the mother stops breastfeeding the child, neglects it, moves away due to entering a state of sadness and loses interest in your baby. Conclusion: the articles found 10 out of 10 describe similar situations; Thus, in developing countries there is a greater prevalence of postpartum depressive states that cause alterations in the nutritional status of the infant.

Objetivo: sistematizar la evidencia sobre el impacto del estado depresivo postparto de la madre en el estado nutricional del lactante. Material y métodos: revisión sistemática observacional y retrospectiva de tipo cuantitativa, sometidos a selección critica, utilizando el sistema de evaluación grade para la identificación del grado de evidencia, hallados en las siguientes bases de datos: pubmed, sciencedirect, scielo, wiley online library, elsevier, epistemonikos. Se describe los datos obtenidos mediante la revisión de artículos publicados relacionados específicamente al tema sobre depresión posparto y la alteración del estado nutricional del lactante. De los 10 artículos revisados el 20% (n =2/10) son revisión sistemática, el 20% (n = 2/10) es casos y controles, el 20% (n = 2/10) es cuasi experimental, el 30% (n = 3/10) es cohorte y el 10% (n = 1/10) es transversal analítico. Resultados: de los 10 articulo encontrados el 100% señalan que hay evidencia significativa del estado depresivo posparto provoque la alteración del estado nutricional del niño, considerando que la madre deja de amamantar al niño, se descuida del mismo, se aleja por entrar en estado de tristeza y pierde el interés por su bebé. Conclusión: los artículos encontrados 10 de 10 describen situaciones similares; siendo así, que en los países en desarrollo se evidencia mayor prevalencia del estado depresivo post parto provoque alteración del estado nutricional del lactante.
