Anxiety and social skills in patients of the psychology clinic at Huánuco Hospital, 2023

Abstract

The purpose of this research is: “to determine the influence of anxiety on the social skills of patients who attend the Hospital, Huánuco, 2023”, for this purpose a quantitative and correlational approach will be used as a methodology, in a population of 80 young patients. of both sexes from 15 to 30 years of age who attend the Huanuco Hospital. The sample will be the same as the population, so non-probabilistic sampling will not be used. The instruments to be used will be the “Social Anxiety Questionnaire for Adults” (CASO) and the “Social Skills Scale” (EHS). The results showed a significant negative correlation between anxiety and social skills (r= -.893; p= .001), likewise social skills had the same significant negative trends with the dimensions of anxiety: public speaking (r= - .750; p= .001); interaction with the opposite sex (r= -.734; p= .001); assertive expression (r= -.659; p= .001); becoming evident (r= -.546; p= .001), interaction with strangers (r= -.814; p= .001). Concluding that anxiety negatively affects social skills in patients.

Se logró dar respuesta al objetivo general el cual fue evidenciar como se relaciona y comporta este fenómeno en las habilidades sociales de las personas, por lo que se debe considerar llevar a cabo diversos proyectos que ayuden a mejorar su estabilidad mental. Es primordial recalcar que para llegar a la obtención de los resultados se pasó a la revisión de cada instrumento con relación a su fiabilidad y validez, los cuales pueden ser utilizados por futuros investigadores que tengan intención de medir las mismas variables en el mismo contexto estudiado. Asimismo, cabe mencionar que para llevar a cabo esta investigación se pasó por diversos limites, tales como la complicación de obtener más tamaño muestral, por lo que se optó por trabajar con los pacientes que eran habituales a sus consultas en psicología, seguidamente se tuvo en cuenta que llegar aplicar los protocolos de evaluación se tuvo percances con una fecha específica, puesto que habían ciertos eventos a favor de la salud, que impedían realizar una reunión con los pacientes para efectuar la aplicación en un solo momento.
