Evidence on nursing interventions for preventing facial injuries in patients with non-invasive mechanical ventilation

Abstract

Objective: Systematize evidence on nursing interventions for the prevention of facial injuries in patients with non-invasive mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit. Materials and Methods: Systematic Review that synthesizes the results of multiple investigations. The selected articles were subjected to critical reading, using the GRADE System to assign the strength of recommendation and quality of evidence. Results: In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen. Finding that 40% (4) prioritize the use of dressings between the face and the mask, thus reducing the risk of ischemia; 30% (3) emphasize the importance of exhaustive assessment of the skin and the time that the patient maintains contact with the device; 20% (2) give importance to the use of the helmet mask that does not make contact with the device. bony prominence of the face and does not cause injury; 10%(1) present us with a three-dimensional mounting device, which is personalized and incorporates three-dimensional scanning solutions, preventing the appearance of injuries. Conclusions: From 10 scientific evidence analyzed we can conclude that: the use of dressings between the face and the device are very important since they increase blood microcirculation.

Objetivo: Sistematizar evidencias sobre las intervenciones de enfermería para la prevención de lesiones faciales en pacientes con ventilación mecánica no invasiva en la unidad de cuidados intensivos. Materiales y Métodos: Revisión Sistemática que sintetiza los resultados de múltiples investigaciones. Los artículos seleccionados se sometieron a lectura crítica, utilizando el Sistema GRADE para asignar la fuerza de recomendación y calidad de evidencia. Resultados: En la selección definitiva se eligieron 10 artículos. Encontrando que el 40%(4) tienen como prioridad el uso de apósitos entre el rostro y la mascarilla ,disminuyendo asi el riesgo de izquemia; un 30% (3) hacen híncapie sobre la importancia en la valoración exhautiva de la piel y el tiempo que el paciente mantiene contacto con el dispositivo;el 20%(2) dan importancia al uso de la máscara helmet que no hace contacto con la prominencia ósea de la cara y no causa lesión;un 10%(1) nos presenta un dispositivo de montaje tridimensional , al ser personalizada e incorporar soluciones de scaneo tridimensional , previenen la aparición de lesiones . Conclusiones: De 10 evidencias científicas analizadas podemos concluir que: la utilización de apósitos entre el rostro y el dispositivo son muy importantes ya que aumentan la microcirculación sanguínea.
